Hi geekzoners,

Does anybody know if it's possible to connect to Genius ADSL using a modem other than the Genius? My Genius modem is borked and I wonder if I could use a Thomson TG585, but I don't know which my ADSL password is and I don't know to find it out either (the Genius seems to pick up the ADSL user & password automatically).

P.S. Yes, I know calling Orcon would be the logical thing to do but the waiting time is unbearable by human standards.

you only rent your genius from orcon, you don't actually own it. they should replace it for free.

Thanks, I know that but it may take several days to get a new Genius, and I cannot afford to be offline for that long :(

Your password is the same as you use to log into Orcon Webmail and the Orcon Portal.  Just remember that the username is yourusername@orcon.net.nz - not just yourusername.  If you don't know your password, just call them up on the phone and they can reset it.

Oh, and if you're on ULL (not wholesale) it doesn't matter one whit- Orcon's equipment will log you in no matter what you enter for username and password then because they can identify you by your line instead.
