Currently Im paying $110 a month for 20GB and national calling - on Genius Ill be paying around $85 for 15GB, national calling and voicemail etc.

Anyone else looking at making the change ? Or you going to wait for suckers like me to hit issues first ? ;)

I am paying $136 for 90GB and a landline with Orcon. Work mates in Orcon+ network are paying $70 for 40GB and a landline. This is not cheaper.

Do whatever you want to do man.

good data plans (same as their 'best deal ever' I believe), but I thought the whole point was that the calling would be over the internet and so much cheaper, yet the calling rates don't look all that good to me. 19c for national calling, 43c for cals to mobile. that is pretty average.

ETA: also, if you don;'t take a 24 month contract you have to rent the modem at $10 per month. ouch!

Plans work for me, have switched and get almost twice my data for about $20 more than I'm currently paying.

Yet again I miss out being on a rural exchange....

Ditto!

Why is it that only Snap are interested in providing NDSL to customers on rural exchanges?

http://www.orcon.net.nz/about/article/orcon_genius_set_to_change_face_of_nz_internet

"Importantly, for Kiwis outside Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch who haven’t yet seen telecommunications competition drive down prices, the device means Orcon can offer a market-leading price point to consumers nationwide* "

Unless you are so rural that you cannot get broadaband, then you should be able to get this acording to Orcon

I must be part of the 16%. I suppose living in a town with a population of 25,600 40 minutes from the centre of Auckland doesn't qualify...

Hi all,
Seems to be a fair few of you that can't sign up due to location.
It seems odd, and I'd like to double check our address checker.
If you want to email me with your address, I can look into it.
quentin.reade@team.orcon.net.nz
Thanks!

Nelson residential and it says no Genius for me. Is this on unbundled exchanges only?

can you get broadband?  If you can get broadband then you aren't part of the 16%
(16% is the amount covered by the RBI i.e. houses that cannot currently get broadband)

Yep. Can get broadband. It looks like the address checker is a bit screwy...

If you are getting a 'no Genius' message, please email - we are investigating the address checker at the moment...
