ON THURS 1 MAY 2014 the transmission providers will restack some channels to refine frequency allocations assigned by the Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment.
HOW WILL IT AFFECT ME?
This restack will not affect viewers using a satellite dish.
It may impact some viewers using a UHF aerial for TV reception, a "NO SIGNAL" or "NO SERVICE" message may appear onscreen when watching some channels after THURS 1 MAY.
These channels may be affected for AUCKLAND viewers using a UHF aerial:
Maori Television (ch 5), Prime (ch 10), Choice TV (ch 12), Sommet Sports (ch 14), Al Jazeera (ch 16), TVSN (ch 20), Yes Shop (ch 21), Parliament TV (ch 22), Firstlight (ch 25), Chinese TV 8 (ch 28), TV33 (ch 33), Radio NZ National (ch 50), Radio NZ Concert (ch 51), BaseFM (ch 71).
These channels may be affected for viewers elsewhere using a UHF aerial:
Al Jazeera English (ch 16), TVSN (ch 20), Yes Shop (ch 21), Te Reo (ch 24).
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
If you go to those channels and see a "NO SIGNAL" or "NO SERVICE" message on / after THURS 1 MAY, please RETUNE your device to restore all channels.
Once restored, all channels would have the same channel numbers as before.
You don't need to retune before THURS 1 MAY.
HOW WILL OTHER PEOPLE FIND OUT ABOUT THIS?
The below message will pop up onscreen from WED 23 APRIL to THURS 1 MAY to inform viewers.
This message should appear up to 3 times a day when you change channels (it will appear on all channels except TV ONE, TV2, TV ONE plus 1 and TV2 plus 1).
