Just wondering, is there any reason why this can't be done with dvb-s

Freeview has provided an official explanation:

FreeviewPlus requires reliable broadband and the transmission coverage for Freeview|HD aligns closely with the coverage of the most reliable broadband delivery in New Zealand.

Always check your coverage to make sure you have Freeview|HD coverage before getting FreeviewPlus.

We will continue to evaluate the option of adding FreeviewPlus to the Freeview Satellite platform in the future.

Putting FreeviewPlus on Satellite  is possible as the same method is used in UK and SKY will do this soon however it is up to Freeview to decide if its viable. If you ask them and request DVBS coverage then they will listen. :-)

Pity it needs an external hard drive. Pity too that it only has a single tuner.

Is there any kind of device in the pipeline that will just do Freeview+?
Preferably some sort of HDMI stick for those of us who do not have Freeview+ compatible TV's. I'm quiet happy to continue using my Tivo for recording.

Why is that? With the latest firmware my MagicTV has no longer has any errors or crashes. I just periodically manually restart it with the remote control.

It constantly runs slow and requires a restart once or twice a week and the remote is regularly unresponsive. It's doing my head in and the WAF is at an all time low.

Can one purchase a setup top box that only does freeview plus on demand if live tv is not required or if there is no ability to install a dish or aerial? ?
