Hi

Latest version: 2.0.0.0
Download: http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/freeviewNZ-EPG.zip

I hope this version will solve the problems new users have been experiencing.

There is now a log file created, when you are having problems please post the last few lines from the log file to help me, help you.

Change log:

Version 2.0.0.0

  • With version 2.0, I have dropped the GBPVR from the file name it is now called freeviewNZ-EPG.exe which better reflects the programs capabilites.

  • Added support for additional epg files. -freeviewWebXML will download an EPG file that contains CTV8. A further option -xml "urlForEPG" can download a custom epg made at http://xmltv.co.nz, simply select the channels you wish to have an EPG for and replace "urlForEPG" with the url generated. Refer to the included batch files for details.

  • Fixed a user error bug in the -task command. Now checks that the batch files exists.

Version 1.9.0.0

  • Moved the log file to the My Documents Folder to preserve the log over multiple installs.

  • The Mediaportal Tv Server SQL Server can now be queried for the EPG path.
Use the following command freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -mediaportalTVServer -SQL.
If you have changed the default SQL Server username and password use freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -mediaportalTVServer -SQL -username -password.

  • Fixed the -all function to now work for GB-PVR.

Version 1.8.0.1

  • Update to be compatible with Mediaportal 1.0.1. Needed to update to be compatible with the new version of ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll.

Version 1.8.0.0

  • If the directory the EPG is being downloaded to doesn't exist it is now created. This should solve most download issues during first setup.

  • If the directory the EPG is being downloaded to doesn't have xmltv.dtd it will be downloaded for you. This should solve most of the other problems with mapping channels.

  • I have now added basic error logging this is always turned on, it will write to a file called "logfile.log" and will be in the same folder as the .exe

  • Fixed date detection of the time the EPG was last downloaded.

  • Added some randomisation to the time the schedule task is setup as -task. By default it will run at 9am but this may cause overloading of the website. So if you DON'T change it to another time yourself it will be setup to run between 9am and 9:30am

  • Improved error messages to aid debugging.

  • New version check only occurs on even days e.g. 2nd, 4th... to reduce traffic.

  • Added new directory and batch files in the download to use with 64 bit versions of Windows. The files have been editied to point to the installation in the "Program Files (x86)" folder. Use these files to schedule the task on first install.

Looks like there is an error when it tries to find where you want to read the EPG from.

Do you have System.Data.SQLite.dll in C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\?

Also make sure you have copied the program to C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR it will only work from there.

it downloads the epg file into the same folder as GB-PVR reads the EPG from.

hmm very weird, it just uses the .dll that comes with GB-PVR no idea why its not working. Does anyone else have any idea why this is happening? I just added a reference to the .dll.

On a side note I have changed the update method.
You no longer need to create a scheduled task the file is updated during built in GB-PVR epg update.

If you find your browser "randomly" opens to http://www.mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/epg.html it is the built in version checker opening the page so you can download the latest version.

edit: Make sure you update to version 1.1 before you try and use the UpdateEPG.bat method or you will end up with a loop to infinity and with website opening everytime

Glad to see its working for someone else as expected.

You can rename it if you wish (but will need to rename it yourself everytime it grabs), it would be easier to change any programs to look for that filename.

If you can tell me the name you want it to be, based on a setting in another program somewhere I "should" be able to write my program to read that setting and output the filename as already configured in the other program.

fisher191: Hi, will this work for MP?

Not yet but I can add it, I will play with it later today.

From what i can understand from a quick look I just need to change the output filename to tvguide.xml.

Then set up a windows scehdule task to download the file.
Then say 10 mins after that is due to run get media portal to run.

I will confirm the steps to follow once i have it working!

Version 1.3 is out get it from http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/epg.html
It adds support for mediaportal - I have not fully tested it as I dont use mediaportal.

How to setup my program with media portal.

Place the extracted contents to your mediaportal directory.

Then create a windows scheduled task: follow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308569 to set up the task.
(I might make a batch file when im at home and can test it properly).

You should have it run daily the file is generally updated at about 3:15am so anytime after that each day should be fine.

Then open up mediaportal configuration.
Click on the + next to television, click program guide.
Leave "Path to tvguide.xml" as default is I have hard coded this. (Anyone know the file I can read this setting from?)
Now click on the scheduler tab.
select the bottom option "xml... : (im not at home will add the correct name and screenshot later).
Basically this is the option to import from the xml file selected on the previous tab.

Now it should be done.
so long as you set up the windows scheduled task it will keep your xml file and tv guide up to date.

you can check it imported correctly by opening mediaportal and going to the guide option.

EDIT: SOrry forgot to mention how to use it for mediaportal
freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -mediaportal

Thanks Mentalinc - I will try this tonight. I am using MP TVserver - should this work or will I have a problem with the hard coded path?

Cheers, Greg
