Just installed Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, without installing any drivers what so ever i managed to pickup freeview on media center, the reception was very stable. i was very shocked to see this. because

"orginally i had xp pro and i use to error messages like "no signal" or massive green patches in the picture. this started happening recently. so i gave up freeview  as i have sky"

back to windows 7, i then sucessfully installed MP 1.0.2 but while tunning in my channels i noticed it didnt pickup any channels on both tuners. it said 538000 no signal.....same for all the other freq.

what could be the cause of this?

i have hvr2200 and xfx9600gt card.

What sort of aerial do you have? Sounds like a possible signal problem which would explain both problems.

I got a aerial guy to put the booster in. there was a siginificant improvement after that, tested on the uhf meter too. but as i have said WMC is working fine on freeview, that means there are no aerial issues.

Ahh sorry didn't realise you were getting it fine on Media Center and not on Media Portal at the same time.

Just be aware that MP 1.0.2 is not supported for Windows 7.

I have got MP 1.1.0A working after a fashion on Windows7 RC.  There is a good possiblity that the UAC is interfering with the operation.  It certainly did with Vista when I was trying to get MP operating.

At the moment I am considering trying MP with Windows7 XP Mode.

The only issue with that would probably be a lack of hardware accleration which would make it a waste of time if it's being used as a front end.

True.  I have just downloaded MP (edit: wrong version quoted)1.1.0 beta and installed it on my Windows 7 partition.  It works so far but not all that smoothly.  Still a bit of tweaking I think.

Hi Gumdigger

I have the same software combination working on my MediaCenter.  Initially I had the same issue as you but I picked up a tip off the MediaPortal site, you need to install MediaPortal in XP Compatibility mode then all runs fine from there.

I now use 3 DVB-T tuners for WMC and 1 tuner reserved for MP TV Server which enables me to stream TV to other PC's in the house. I'm not running the MP front end on my mediacenter though.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Russ..

Are you just talking about XP compatibility or the the full XP Mode (using a virtual machine)?  And did the compatibility start right from install or just when you try to run MP?

Yeah just the compatibility mode during install. So go to the properties of the install file and to the compatibility tab, choose "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Windows XP SP3. Then run the install. I didn't need to do anything extra when running TV Server itself.
