Hi,

We have just moved house, and our freeview won't work! I know the last tenants had freeview working here, so I know the satelite should be working. I believe there is quite an old dish on the new house, where as the last house had a new one.

I have tried the 2 different frequency settings - 11.3ghz & 10.75ghz, both tried on Horizontal & Vertical.

Are there any other settings I can try? I have also tried the factory reset and came up with nothing.

Did they have satilite freeview or the watchable HD service?

It is satellite only out here. No reception on analogue or digital aerials, so there are none installed.

Could be a splitter install that doesnt have power pass on all ports, so it is reliant on another outlet powering up the LNB.

I have traced the entire cable back, and there is no splitter on it.

Faulty decoder? Maybe got one too many knocks in the shift?

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Misaligned dish, dead LNB, shorted or open coaxial cable, dead decoder; one of those.

I had a closer inspection of the cable outside, and there are some small cuts in the outer sheath, leaving the first layer of wire visible. Would this be sufficient to eliminate all reception?

Not directly, I wouldn't think, but if water has entered the cable that way, there could be problems.

The cuts are on the part of the cable that is lying on the ground. Tomorrow I will take the decoder to work and plug it into the satellite there and see what happens.

Round Sky lnb = 11300 Oval Sky lnb = 10750

If its an el cheapo box you will have to re enter the TPs after a factory reset

12456 H 22500
12483 H 22500
12646 V 12600

and rescan the TPs when you get a signal

Both houses had a round dish.

I tried the decoder on the satellite at work, and it was fine, so the decoder is working ok. We have given up and someone is coming on Wednesday to have a look.
