Hi all

I am in Putaruru, we normally get central TV on channel 30, but sometimes it seems to vanish and we have an additional chinese channel on 33, when this happens i check the epg, channel 33 is there and channel 30 is not.

However normally (99% of the time) channel 30 (central TV) is there and on the EPG, and channel 33 isn't (available or on the epg).

Whats happening, is the Waikato signal being overridden by the auckland one or something?

It does sound like you're getting the Auckland signal. Interestingly, 33 is still broadcast from Te Aroha but there's a flag in the broadcast telling your receiver to not allow access to it. I can get 33 with my non-Freeview approved receiver, but not with my approved one.

But in your case, if Central's dropping out completely, then it sounds like you are indeed occasionally swapping to an Auckland transmitter. I'm not sure why though; Auckland's transmitters run at different frequencies vs Te Aroha. I wonder whether you might have two different Kordia muxes tuned into your receiver.

Try this: Delete all channels, then rather than doing an auto-tune, instead select to manually enter the frequencies. You'll need these ones:

TVNZ Channel 46, 674 MHz
TV3/4 Channel 48, 690 MHz
Kordia Channel 50, 706 MHz

Note that I'm assuming that you're pointing to Te Aroha. If you're using a different transmitter then the frequencies will be different.

Ok heres the newer issue

Do all stations provide an EPG feed

Channel 30 (TV Central) hasn't appeared on my EPG for sometime, Howeverif I click the LIST button on my remote that brings up all channels (terrestrial and analogue) channel 30 is there, and it works if i select it.
It also works when i type 30 into the remote

I have a Sanyo Tv with Freeview built in

Channel 33 hasn't reappeared since the first post either via the EPG or channel LIST

Any help would be appreciated

According to the Freeview specs, services that aren't meant to be shown to the user (in this case, channels like TV33 and tvCentral, which are regional channels that are only meant to be received in Auckland and Waikato respectively) should only be available by directly entering the channel number (like you're doing). All channels should have EPG data, however if you have a Freeview-approved box then it is designed not to show these channels to you...

[Edit: ...ie. the EPG will be hidden]

30 should be visible in Putaruru though. It certainly used to be in the EPG for me (Whakatane, using Te Aroha/Waikato transmitter) so I'll confirm whether it's still there when I get home.

Ok, I should add

Channel 30 (TV Central ) used to appear on the EPG with its channel listings, I haven't noticed it on the EPG for a while, as I do watch that channel fairly frequently, (as I enjoy Euromaxx at 7pm)

hi im in taranaki i can receive 33 and im getting another copy fo 33 on a channel named tvcentral ,also i get two more channels that receive nothing there called rotarua tv and rotarua tv info, can i do the same?

ye gods, is it posssible the EPG could be coming from somewhere else entirely?

It came right last night (although the radio stations were missing), but then a bit later i had channels 31 and 32 (rotorua and rotorua test/spare) and no 30

Neither of which seemed work.

I could still access channel 30 just not through the EPG

This is all through my Sanyo tv

In addition to my previous post

at one point last night changing from Prime to channel 7, The TV had an alert come up with "Changing network" (with an OK button on it, clicked OK and went to channel 7, Never ever seen that before, and it hasn't happened again) yet they were both digital

I am in Putaruru which is classed as "Likely with a high aerial" and have always had good picture, is perhaps one of the new coverage ares overlapping? would that effect it?
