I only have a PS3 and a 20" TV (now that I think about it, it is probably smaller. No AV at all :( ..)! Luckily my flatmate has a nice TV. So in the lounge there is an LG 42" plasma but that's about it. Nothing too special going on here!

2nd room currently only has a 32" TV and DVD Player. Would be nice to be able to record stuff there with this thing.
Main setup is a 40" TV and MySky HDi.

It's a busy life: two children, an old dog, two guinea pigs, frail mother and a Sony DVD Recorder.The Sony has reached that point where ejecting a disk requires both patience (rewriting...rewriting...please wait...) and lightning reflexes. The disk pops out and in like a damn cuckoo clock.

If only I could record what I want to watch when I have time to watch it! I have researched to the nth degree, what our lovely new Panasonic Full HD plasma needs is a suitable playmate. A Magic TV3600 that records to the same exacting quality that the TV can display.

I can hear the cries of joy already, as the 3600 box is opened, the protective wrapper peeled back, and the sleek black box placed upon the altar ready to receive the glorious Freeview signal.

And so I have waited for the price to drop, checked in at TradeMe and PriceSpy, but 699.00 remains the unattainable price.
So this could be it? my chance to join the PVR clan? here's hoping...!

Well, we have a 40" Samsung LCD connected to an HTPC used for Bluray/DVD, DVB-T, Music and the occasional game. Our audio setup uses the excellent logitech z-5500 speaker set.

TV would have been a 46" but I couldn't justify $1500 for the last 6 inches. Sigh.

HTPC: Antec Fusion 430, Intel i3, Gigabyte 1050, Corsair 4x1Gb, Hauppauge WinTv, Logitech z-5500, Logitech Harmony 525, Yamaha Rx-v6a, Samsung KS8000 4k, Windows 10, Mediaportal 1.30, BLU-RAY: Panasonic UB820

On the wall, I have a 42" Full HD LCD TV.

In the cabinent, I have a nice Yamaha amp and some Klipsch front speakers.

On the roof I have a SKY dish that is currently serving us 'non-HD' TV.

Also on the roof is a HD aerial with a cable hanging through my window. I put it there a year ago, but had nothing to plug it into. Wishful thinking I guess, that if I put a cable there, an HD tuner would come .... but alas that wasn't to be.

The cream of the cream is my Mythbuntu Media Centre .... NOT! After having convinced my wife that a media centre like MythTV was much better a 'normal' TV, I 'rolled my own' Myth box with a Hauppauge DVB-S TV tuner. At this point, I had no choice but to follow through. After about four versions, ten installs and two years of linux tinkering, the damn remote still won't work and I have been eternally condemned to being a human remote!! My wife lies casually on the couch while I have to pause, change channels, fast forward, (and generally operate, as you need a PhD to make the thing work). What's more, my one year old son chucked the amp remote out the cat flap into the rain one evening, so the volume control doesn't work either.

All in all, we're remote-less, HD-less, unqualified to run MythTV, and my legs are tired. Please help - I need a system that just works, has a remote, ONE THAT MY WIFE CAN OPERATE, and a little magic!

I run a 50' tv with the usual AV setup. My biggest challenge is how to integrate additional equipement as I am running out of input ports to the TV. This box looks like an option as I could run my Xbax, HD media player and DVD player though to it and then back to the TV.

Got a 46" Samsung, Denon Amp, Polk Audio Speakers.

This is all driven by a ugly PC, hidden in a not so ugly cabinet, running Windows 7 MCE, with 6 tuners (TBS6980, HVR4000, HVR3000, HVR2200), so I can only record 6 channels at once ie 4 x Sky, 2 x Freeview.

The ugly PC also drives a couple of Xbox 360 extenders, and there another Xbox 360 somewhere in there as well, which just plays games... So the reality is this would be about as useful to me as a Nuticle(TM).

If I win, without doubt it'll be on Trademe within minutes... This will benefit many people, firstly myself, because I'll have the pleasure of knowing I won (I never win anything on Geekzone!). Secondly my son, who will get a new bike from the proceeds. Thirdly, my wife, because she would know that I didn't have to spend any money, buying my oldest son a new bike. Fourth, my youngest son, who will get my oldest son's hand me down bike.

Finally it will also benefit the lucky punter who buys it off trademe for a ridiculously low price, and extened the benifits to his/her family as well.

So there ya go, give it to me and share the love, rather than some other selfish git who only wants it for themselves.

this would go really nicely alongside the 52" plasma HD, the surround sound system. the Xbox media centre, my Linux media box and especially look nice sitting next to my Sega MegaDrive, MegaDrive II and my master system.

42" Sony LCD in the lounge. Various CRTs around the house. Some ancient thing in my room which looks like it's from the 50s - still works fine though!

I don't have a large screen TV and with things the way they are at the moment won't be getting one for a few years yet. I have a basic SD Freeview decoder of average quality and am using a computer with a 25" HD screen as a kind of HTPC.

In between working my "normal" job, being called out to jobs (locally and in other cities) and instructing at the gym I find it hard to get to watch the programs I'm interested in and often have to resort to TV on demand - if/when programs become available. Sometimes they don't and sometimes it's 3-4 days after the program has screened. Sniff, sniff...

For me, a DVR like this would be absolutely ideal as I'd be able to set it to record the programs I want to see then view them when I want to, as opposed to if/when the networks decide to make the content available. A huge bonus would be the ability to record two conflicting programs simultaneously and watching TV in HD.

I have a cheap DVD player with USB input attached and for Sky i just have the basic package (again, just like me hahahahaa)

I've got a 42" Hyundai LCD telly and a Yamaha surround sound system from about 4 years ago. Unfortunately the surround side of things has been somewhat muted by the absence of any speakers which in turn is a result of not having somewhere to hide all the cables. We're not a house that likes lots of messy cables lying around .... :-)

I also have a cheapo satellite Freeview box that I just bought to replace another cheapo satellite Freeview box that died when we had a power cut last week. I calculate it was about 15 minutes outside the warranty period. I won't name names because I had been very happy with a PVR from the same company when living in the UK.

Anyway, I looked longingly at the Magic box while I was deciding what to buy to replace the dead Freeview box, but concluded (or rather, the bank balance decided) that I should opt for something simple. So to win this would be, well, magic ......

My setup consists of a ceiling mounted projector.. its HDMI and 1080i but, its very, very, sad because it hasn't seen a single pixel of HD anything the whole time its been running.

We don't have any kinda of tele, and no blu ray or anything. Been meaning to get FreeView HD but haven't gotten around to it yet. Want to make sure I could dvr the at hi-def cause I couldn't stand the thought of having to watch live to get HD --- since i have no intention of watching live at all.

The fact that its quite a hassle - well you have to pull the screen down, reach up, turn it on, hook it up to whatever computer or dvd is going to make it play and fiddle with stereo - to get it going is a major plus. No blobbing out watching tele. Unfortunately I tend to blob on reddit instead ;)
