according to my testing, the tv2 channel (which is running a 720p feed) is going at around 19.6Mbit/sec

a 1 minute recording (exact) was 150718KB.

My pvr is going to need a major disk space upgrade

Hmm I doubt it as I've just done a bandwith check on the VPID and it comes out at 8355.556 kbit/s, and TV One is about the same.

There is quite a bit of overhead due to the TS encapsulation etc but your file size is still a bit off.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

I've had fun with these - that is until I discovered my "other" PVR machine running an XP3400+ CPU and an X1950 Pro card cannot hack the pace. The X1950 is supposed to be able to hardware decode H.264 but tests indicate (100%cpu use & stuttering) that it is all being done in software. I'm using the VMR9 custom codec from Cyberlink Power DVD Ultra etc... has anyone had any experience with this VPU (X1950) and HD decoding? if I can get the processing onto hardware that would be huge.

I'm just a crazy newbie?

Tv1 and tv2 run between 8 and 11mbps.

@ajst, are you running xp? vista is good at doing hardware accel.

Fossie - I am running vista, I will have a play with the drivers but it doesn't look good. Card specs specifically state H.264 h/w decoding but obviously it's not happening. I'm locked with the CPU and VPU, they are the highest spec I can run on this box.
I had everything just perfect on my other Q6600/8600GTS machine it was awesome.

GBPVR, Vista Home Prem, PowerDVD 7 Ultimate - no I never thought to configure powerdvd to use avivo- is this an option??

Hi all,
Maybe slightly off topic, but relates to DVB-T signal. Can the coax cable from the UHF aerial go into the Terrestrial set top box and then out to the traditional analogue TV aerial input? (Assuming there's an RF out on the STB).
Reason I ask is I'd still like to be able to view prime if it doesn't make it to the DVB-T channel line up.

I might need to start a new thread here - but yes Fossie, use hardware decoding avivo was checked - still slow & choppy with 100% CPU - seems really stange. I'll no doubt waste the weekend trying to figure it out.

This is new. 626000 is carrying all the Kordia channels as well as 660000. So right now im picking up every single channel twice, on different mux's.

530000Tvnz
538000 Tvnz
562000 Mediaworks
570000 Mediaworks

me too fossie, I noticed it yesterday when I did a rescan

interestingly, I didn't find the TVNZ mux at 530000

Take a look at the frequency table at http://kordia.co.nz/index.php?q=node/1176

You must all be close enough to one of the infill sites as 62600 = CH40

I'd be very interested to hear a signal strength comparison between the two differnt networks.

Ok. Using the little dinky aerial that came with my hvr-900.

I'm only getting a 2% difference across all Mux's. All are in the high 70's.
Using my roof aerial I'm in the mid 90's.
