The MagicTV looks pretty sweet - I currently have a DSE terrestrial freeview box with an old Sony 20" CRT TV, an old Sony Home theatre system (DAV880) which unfortunately has a shot DVD player.  As it's an integrated unit (AMP, Tuner etc) I have a newer DVD player running through one of its aux inputs so at least (with a bit of fiddling) we can run the sound through the external speakers.  The MagicTV would be grand as we could then record and replay stuff for the kids off the freeview channels.  It;s either that or an elgato hybrid tuner for the Mac.  Fingers-cosssed.

Your HD TV being without HDMI doesn't mean you can't run watch high definition TV on it. There are several DVB-T receivers available which do HD over component cables. You're out of luck with MyFreeview|HD PVRs though.
