I wouldn't imagine the EPL will be free to air.... They are going to have to get their money back that they just paid for the rights.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Free to put it on the airwaves, just have to pay to get it back off the airwaves :)

Sommet has announced the rights to show all of this:

Bundesliga
N Power Championship League
Football League
Argentinean League
Europa League
Capital Cup
England Home Internationals
Community Shield
Chelsea TV (we will buy the rights to another Premier League TV which will enable us to broadcast 2 delayed EPL games per week).
Scottish FA Cup
German FA Cup
Chinese FA Cup

No idea how much of each, but it's a lot better than Sky has done in previous years.

that is awesome.

The only problem will be that they are one linear channel, with only 24 hours in any given day to actually show content.

Now, if they could develop some kind of 'on demand' service like Coliseum is doing so that game conflicts could be dealt with easily by just watching whichever one you wanted at any given time, that would be brilliant....

(hint hint Sommet - please do this)

re football

Only problem is that they will not be broadcasting in HD and even if they were I am not sure the football would be in HD as I think they are sourcing it from Setanta who don't broadcast in HD and have no real inclination to do so.

I know some of you will say it is better than nothing but going back from HD to SD in sports is really hard to do and football is even worse as there are a lot of wide shots which look really out of focus on the bigger TVs.

No option for HD as the Kordia freq is full. Hopefully the Gov will allocate more capacity for Freeview, before the sell it all to the telcos.

from HD down to SD = bad

but from nothing up to SD = good.

Most of the sports they will be showing get very little airplay (if any) on Sky right now, and almost none on freeview
