Fossie: The quality is far superior to the SD channels. I was flicking between SD and Upscaled and the image was much sharper. The audio was also better.

How does it compare with Freeview quality?

hehe 10Mbps H.264 upscaled vs whatever they are SD mpeg-2. much nicer.

Should be better then. But since folks are saying the content is not native 720P but upscaled, I wonder if you could get the same quality by upscaling the 576i (or is it p?) Freeview content. I watch Freeview from a box that outputs 576p (so I guess it's de-interlacing the signal) and then having a TV upscale internally to 1080i. It looks pretty good but certainly not HD.

Guess I must install my HVR-3000 to see what the DVB-T broadcasts look like to compare.

I have been comparing it with the tv 2 feed currently on TVNZ 7 and the 720p TV TWO feed. The 720p feed, is sharp, where as the SD feed seems slightly blurred.

I am trying to play these clips on the PS3. While I can play the video okay (very smooth as you would imagine with the processing grunt of the PS3) can't seem to get audio to work. I am assuming the audio is AAC HE profile? When I strip the audio out to see if I can process it into something else, can't actually any application to open it! Anybody else tried this? If we could get the PS3 to play these clips then that would be a great way to combine a low end PC to capture the streams and then use the PS3 to play them.

I have found that winamp can play an convert the aacplus audio. You need to switch it to diskwriter output and then you will get a wav file of the audio. I have then converted this to AAC-LC to playback on 360 and I presume the PS3 would be the same.
