Just try tapping in Channel 600. Some are seeing the channel (with an internet connection to TV/PVR/PC), unfortunately not for me yet.

That did the trick. Thanks. I see "Internet Connection Error" "Please wait while we try to connect you, this might take up to 40 secs."...

No ethernet port on the TV of course.

I'm in Christchurch & on my Panasonic TV i get a list of 5 items. When clicking on them 3 of the 5 do nothing but 2 of them play for about 30 seconds then freeze & lock up the channel. Also my PlayTV device on my Playstation 3 fails to pick up the channel at all.

Has anyone looked at this lately?
It has a bunch of short video clips (obviously test vids - around 1m long).
You can navigate around and select - some of the clips play.
Who is behind it? Any idea?

Looked the same as before when I looked - lists 5 or so videos and choosing any of them gets a white thing in the corner of 2 alternating squares and nothing. Never plays anything.

This channel has been up since the launch and is an experiment into a teletext replacement MHEG-5 internet service.  It is mark in the NIT's LCN descriptor as hidden due to being in test.

I personally think that MHEG-5 over DSM-CC is a waste of time as it's slow to load, requires extra vendor licensing to fully support and uses far more bandwidth than EBU teletext.  Also TVNZ relied on the same UK supplier that created MHEG Freeview UK and AU EPGs to create the NZ one.  TVNZ merely update excel worksheets which the daily DVB Event and MHEG data files are transcoded from.

It would have been better to have a more bandwidth efficient Digicipher 2 based ATSC SI stream than the bloated DVB SI one that's currently used on the Kordia/JDA QAM terrestrial network.
