hdinsider: Ok. Let's go through them... The new channels
Prime
Choice
U
Four
Trackside
Tv1+1

Also a few regional channels

This all in the last few years. Obviously some channels have gone/changed due to lack of funding and some due to the current global financial crisis, but not too bad compared with life before Freeview.

4:3 Analog vhf = much worse

U replaced 6 so is not really a new channel, and the content is pretty trashy.
TV1+1 replaced 7 so is not really a new channel either, also it is just a duplicate of tv1 so doesn't introduce any new content.

hdinsider: Whoa! Hold on... Are you really blaming Freeview for the temporary SBS and CH9 feeds disappearing? That's totally bogus.

No no!  I was simply stating what was available before, and what has gone, obviously some of that was satellite only, but my point is that TV in NZ is far worse off than it was 2 years ago.

I know Freevie have nothing to do with the Ausi channels disappearing.

That said - I have watched the +1 channel a couple of times.  Particularly like it when I've missed the start of a film/program - I can just set a reminder on the +1.  Also means I can watch the news while the kids monopolise the mySky!

Does anyone know how many terrestrial channels Freeview can display? There must be a limit.

There are 11 "channels" and each can supposedly hold up to 10 SD channels (although I think the current Kordia mux may have more than that) so that's 110 in total.
