Just looking at the Freeview site & noticed The Shopping Channel logo in the list of channels
A quick google later http://www.shoppingchannel.co.nz/
The channel will start on October 1st on channel 18 on Freeview (UHF only) & Sky.

I'd love to know who decided that this channel has "mass market appeal" (one of the requirements for the 1-19 channel block).

O for awesome. NZ really needed a shopping channel with the loss of tvnz 7, 6 and tvnz sports, Stratos that really makes up for that loss.

KiwiNZ: Freeview....... So much promise.....so much crap.

That should be there new tagline!

Lets see what we have lost since Freeview began:

Sport
TVNZ 6 / Kidzone
TVNZ 7
Stratos

plus

Gen
Nine
Go
SBS1
SBS2

Thats NINE channels less.  Count one for ChoiceTV, take away 100 points for TV ONE+1, and your left with a score of -108, which about reflects Freeview content right now.

Yeah I know, but they really added value to NZ TV, so I counted them in.

Whoa! Hold on... Are you really blaming Freeview for the temporary SBS and CH9 feeds disappearing? That's totally bogus.

Add up the channels when Freeview launched and now and you will find there are more channels now. Sure, they are different channels, and you may not value them personally, but there are more channels. You can't argue it. More

Ok. Let's go through them... The new channels
Prime
Choice
U
Four
Trackside
Tv1+1

Also a few regional channels

This all in the last few years. Obviously some channels have gone/changed due to lack of funding and some due to the current global financial crisis, but not too bad compared with life before Freeview.

4:3 Analog vhf = much worse
