bjdacre: John,

On a more positive note, has anyone had a go at getting Intelsat 18 or 19 yet?

Brendan

Awesome - thanks for the testing. I have been meaning to spin my dish around to IS19 to see what I can tune in. There doesn't seem to be a lot of testing that has gone on.

Tell me, how did you point your dish? Was it by eye (or a compass etc.) or do you have a signal strength meter?

http://www.lyngsat.com/Intelsat-19.html

Looking at lyngsat you are getting NHK off the western hemis beam

http://www.intelsat.com/flash/coverage-maps/sat_foot.html?sat=IS-19 at 166%BA E&display=map&spot=0

Can you tune BBC World in at all?

Should be at 4087 H 3255

Hi, when your dish is pointed at IS5 at the moment , behind the dish , just move it a fraction to the left ,
alevation is about the same , skew is about the same as well .

No I cant get BBC world , signal too low

thanks

Thanks for this, I will get up on my roof and give it a try now that the weather has cleared. I understand that there are approx 50 channels broadcasting off IS19 on the KU band so was thinking about swapping out my C-band LNB to have a look, but I'm not sure that any of them are in english.

The only two channels that look to be of any use to me is BBC World and NHK.

Do you have access to a bigger dish that you can experiment with?

My 1.8m dish in Auckland can only just get bbc world. It's a bit of a rusty dog though. NHK is good.

Not even a little bit of Australia network though.

don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....

Hi , I dont have a bigger dish than the 90 cm one , the only tp you (might be able) to get will be 4060 NHK
, even "thats" pretty hard on a 90 cm dish

Hmmm... and I can get a reliable NHK off Optus D2 so I might pop a KU-band LNB and see what IS19 has to offer. It's a shame, but I am not sure that I can accommodate anything bigger than a 1.2m dish on my roof.

I ve got NHK on D2 as well ,
Picture quality on IS19 is WAY BETTER broadcast in HD MPEG4 16:9 while NHK on D2 is MPEG2 4:3

Good point. Is there an EPG broadcast with the signal?
