Article: Roast Busters: Companies pull ads from RadioLive
NZ Herald dated 7th November 2013

Anything that flies in the face of Willie Jackson and John Tamihere get my vote.

Dam they must be the most annoying/biased talk show hosts in the history of radio.

Bugger. I have not watched the Simpsons in ages, but there were a lot of good shows in there that my wife and I followed on 3 and 4. Maybe it is time to look for legal alternatives, not keen on torrenting all the shows we watched, but catch 22 is we can't really afford to buy off itunes or set up a vpn/hulu account and watch that way.
Besides which, the WAF of having to connect to a vpn, connect to a streaming media player and watch TV that way is not going to be high, She just wants to hit a couple of buttons and watch TV, come to think of it, I really want the same thing!

Homeland is a good one. I hope they go to TVNZ and not sky to screen on prime, as I want to see it in HD on freeview. It is sad to see tv3 / 4 losing these programs, as a weak TV3 /4 is not good for freeview or competition in the free to air tv market.
I think it may just mean that people will watch more content over VPNs using things like netflix, if they can't get it on freeview channels in NZ

Mediaworks seem very ambivalent towards bias - particularly in the area of TV3 "investigative" reporters who don't seem to have a clue what an investigation actually is or how to present both sides of a story instead of just barreling down a fast track with one side only, come hell or high water. TBH I'm surprised advertisers haven't gotten sick of them years ago.

almost the entire news media in NZ is in a very sorry state at the moment.
You have sites like Stuff that can't decide if it wants to be a serious news site or a gossip magazine.
I really hate the way that TV3 always starts its 6PM news bulletin with teasers (Why did ~? , What did !? etc . . . ). They seem to forget that it is a news show and not a soap opera full of cliffhangers.

NonprayingMantis: the simpsons is Fox.

But if they won't be on Mediaworks anymore, that brings them up for bidding from somebody else.

Maybe a new player, like Netflix, will step up and buy the rights?

That would kill off the general viewer...

The average kiwi (non-Geekzoner) just wouldn't tune in.

Look at teh Premier League. People paid for Sky to watch it, but many simply wouldn't move to an online solution and in the end decided to watch delayed and highlights on Sky and free to air as it's easy.

Therein lies the issue with online TV - it's not yet mass-market friendly.
