6 channels have lit up on the new multipex off Waiatarua, but only one of them has audio/video PIDS.

No channel numbers mapped yet.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

Ok, this is probably what is screwing with one of my modulaotrs in that case. Lets go re-tune things.

A thing (technical term) that turns stuff (another technical term) into RF. You probably don't have one. You probably don't need one. And you probably aren't allowed one.

I moved the rf modulator and re scanned and got another channel appear last night I think it was 0800 or similar that it got assigned.

test patten with a bouncing pong like dot on it.

Yep.. I set up a modulator on ch35 for a friend.. they're looking at Pinehill, so it might still be ok.
I went with ch35 because it was listed as empty on here: http://www.qsl.net/zl1vfo/aktvchannels.htm

I think mine was on 33 and a bit because it's an aussie one so the numbers mean nothing.

Channel 28 is live on Wharite. Currently only one DVB service "Test 6" showing a test pattern.

"Test 6" now showing up in Whakatane too (Te Aroha transmitter) on channel 28/530 MHz. Wasn't there a couple of days ago. Interestingly, EyeTV tags it as Kordia even though SMART says World TV.

Similar-ish vertical coloured bars, but with a black horizontal line through the middle with a small square going back and forth along it beeping at each end.

No, as that's a 1080i pattern. Kordia and co still exist in a 576i world. Sommet exist in D1-CIF sub 1 Mbps world so I wouldn't want to see them have their own mux.
