Also found this. So I can't buy these without dealing with Sky? Or I have to buy new mounting brackets to go with a new type of LNB?

You can take the inserts out of the mount to put a standard larger LNB into it, and you dont need a dual LNB unless you want to watch a test pattern from the other satellite.

I have been through this before. In my case the problem turned out to be the sat receiver, but to get that far I had to eliminate the LNB and DiSEqC switch first. LNBs are really cheap on Trade Me and almost any simple generic one that is suitable will do fine. It needs to work on Ku band or Optus D1 and be able to operate at a frequency of 11300 Mhz. This is all fairly standard and these generally cost less than $15, sometimes less than $10. Just stick it in the mount at the same orientation as the original and make sure it is also rotated the same. If that is the problem you should know immediately. This is something you can easily do yourself as long as you position the new one exactly the same as the old. I have done it successfully more than once and I am no expert.

Not quite. It does need to be Ku, but doesn't have to have an LO of 11300MHz. The OP's current one is 10750MHz. As long as the correct LO for the LNB is entered in the receiver, it will be fine.

Yep, that's exactly the same one I had, and it failed in a similar manner to yours (crapped out during day / came right at night). Eventually it died altogether.

I bought a new LNB and the bracket to go with it from FreeviewShop. Service was very prompt and my satellite TV reception has been flawless ever since.

Then install one of these.. http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/noise-10750-band-p-624.html

This will provide a direct swap out for your old Sky dual 10750 LNB.

As long as you don't swing off the dish itself, it should only be a case of adjusting the skew of the LNB to get a good signal, which you can use the decoder for (remember to install the new LNB with the power off first).
