simon14: Can one purchase a setup top box that only does freeview plus on demand if live tv is not required or if there is no ability to install a dish or aerial? ?

Yes, you can still buy this box and access TVNZ OnDemand , 3NOW and Maori TV apps using the Apps button on the remote without the need of a UHF cable.

Thanks, that's great.

Be cool if they had special decoders without the inbuilt receivers that just did the on demand stuff. May be able to make them smaller and cheaper?

Be good for people with extra TV's that dont need to be wired up to a dish or aerial; although i suppose Chromecast ect solve that problem..

Are the apps pre-loaded? or download during initial setup of the device?

Does the receiver support entry of a manual DNS setting ?

Can you install other apps on the box?
I would like to see a box like this that you could add the lightbox and Netflix apps. That way you could have all the content from one box. I havent seen anything that can do that currently.

Hey Josh. Just to confirm....... My daughter has a TV set up in her room to watch dvd's on but we haven't hooked it up to an aerial. If we hook up a T2100 to it she can watch Ondemand? Can she also use the reverse EPG?

I believe the T2100 has a wireless modem built in.

New Apps will have to come via a firmware release however it's best to contact the providers and request this to happen the platform is open source and anyone can join the FreeviewPlus platform, one of the benefits of the new software in the T2100 and future models is that we have set up a dedicated server for firmware so the receiver can auto update when new content is available, no more OTA and Manual firmware updates.

Josh, I think someone asked earlier. Can other Apps be loaded onto this device? Netflix and Lightbox would be great additions (as too, Neon I suppose).

Yes, comes with a built in WiFi antenna along with an Ethernet Port, You cannot access any FreeviewPlus features i.e. Reverse EPG, Guides without a UHF Aerial connection, You will only be allowed to access the TVNZ, 3Now and Maori TV Applications themselves.

Cheers mate. While a pain she wouldn't be able to use the reverse epg it may be a relatively cheap and easy way to allow her to watch tv in her room.

Can you remove the USB device and plug it into another DISH box to replay what has been recorded?

Probably worth the extra investment in getting a UHF feed connected through to her room?

No not at this stage, The format for T2100 is EXT4 so need to be linux to read it, but in future we may allow our new PVR's to read it vise versa.
