I'm still struggling with WAF so this might help......some of my problem is the analogue tuner in our panasonic 37" is actually pretty impressive, so it seems only me can see the difference another $2k on the HTPC has made. Rest of the family think it's a waste of time - grrrr

Surely the fact the analogue can only deliver a 4:3 picture vs true 16:9 is a fairly obvious difference?

I think I'm married to the wrong chick - it is all greek (sorry geek) to her. The stretched picture looks better apparently - and the TV doesn't crash like the PVR is prone to with the current version of monogram. Nuts, I'm sure I can get one past the goalie tonight all going well :-)

I got it to work with dvb-s and analogue but I think that due to the DVB-t advertising a EPG it doesnt bother to get it off DVB-S. I'm using XMLTV from reven.

Fossie: Just got an email from freeview shop. Boston Legal will be in HD tonight!

Only 1 hour to go till our first real HD broadcast TV show goes to air - man I have I been waiting for this, I hope lives up to the hype.

I'm watching on a 40" bravia V series and it is pretty nice. Im not toatally blown away though, but I think thats due to most of my TV watching being 720p downloads so "real" 1080i isnt that much of a jump. It looks a hell of a lot better then the adds inbetween though.

well that sucks - 2nd ad break and sound snyc issues and some dodgy digital breakup and I'm hre alone on the couch explaining why we ended up with an ugly black box instaed of a weekend at surfers !!!!
This is a hard road to hoe.....

Just switched back to DVB-S and composite video on the 32" V series (that is shortly destined for the bedroom) and ewwwwwwwwwwwww yuck not pretty in comparison :-)

what kind of audio bitrate are others getting? im using dvb viewer and im only getting about 128kbps. is it because of bad reception?
The video looks great on my 24"LCD but the audio's letting it down.
Whats next on the schedule to be in hd?

Its my first boston legal on Freeview DVB-T but the quality looks amazing, even though my LCD is a limiting factor (720i, brought a few years ago).

you can certainly notice the difference between the DVB-S and DVB-T feed. The HD looks very nice

The quality is certainly much better than other broadcasts. We just realised the Mac mini won't cut it for full HD, while it does work well for all other broadcasts.

Picture movement is not as smooth - although I managed to get EVR working without the colour problems reported in another discussion, which of course helps a lot.

So we might end up getting a set top box for now and then a new HTPC later in the year - I don't think it's worth investing a couple of thousands dollars until a single Media Center program provides HD - Media Portal is still beta and didn't do it really well in my experience.

yeah, I agree. At the moment, only nightly builds can handle it. Also it is still quite unstable for me. I think the software development still has a while to go. Most either don't work, or have more kinks than a back road. Certainly still early adopter stuff at this stage.
