So it is now working. Follow the advise earlier in this thread

It didn’t work for me until around aug 2018 when Freeviewnz released their new app

It is not installed from the App Store instead it seems to come over the air. Or the tv is instructed to download by the broadcaster(s)

Things to note: when you power on the tv it takes a while can be up to a minute until the Freeview app starts working.

The old app version used to have a pop up that happened to tell you it is loaded and available. This latest version does not do that so you have to keep retrying the left arrow, or red or green buttons. Then eventually it loads

The on demand is still patchy. At least the program now loads after the advertising. But may not play all the way through. This could be my model tv issue (don’t think my internet as 100meg download speed)

It’s nice to have the Freeviewnz guide back.

I am having similar issue now on a Sony Android KDL43W800C TV - it was working previously but has now stopped working for some reason. When viewing the Digital input I used to be able to press the Enter key then the freeview banner appeared at the bottom of the screen and arrow buttons could be used to select the guide and on-demand etc. Now the Enter button does nothing. If I press a channel up/down button the freeview banner appears after the channel changes but the arrow/Enter buttons dont work and eventually the banner goes away. Rebooting the TV doesnt make any difference. Pressing the Red/Green buttons doesnt do anything. The Guide button brings up the sony guide (non-freeview guide) as it did before.

We too have struck this issue in the past few days. My wife said the TV did an automatic update a few days ago too so I suspect it is that which has broken the freeview

The update release date is 28-11-2018

It’s version is 5.417, ours is 5.417.0177PAA

I guess it is Freeview NZ that needs to release an update that will work with this version.

It’s really annoying. :( grrrrrrrrr

At least they fixed the issue so many were having. Shame their 'support' page still reflects the old FW thats now been taken offline as a result of this release.

Resolves an issue where unable to playback Freeview content after using Netflix

May need a factory reset (to reset FV app) afterward?

On FreeView site forum I see post about updates in the last couple of days relating to the mini-guide and disabling the popup etc for LG TV. Its a bit coincidental that we are experiencing problems with not being able to open the guide starting around the same time as these changes ....

Pressing the Red button on the remote does not load the EPG, and pressing the Green button does not load OnDemand. Also the middle Enter key does not bring up the mini EPG. Everything was working fine with the previous firmware. Either this update completely broke the latest Freeview App, or Freeview need to update their app to be compatible with this update.

Yep, you have identical TV and the same symptoms as I have. I have been trying to post about it on the Freeview site but it requires an approval to be able to join and post something in their forums.

I have been in contact with Sony, the guy I've been talking to said they are "investigating further" and will keep me posted. If/when I hear anything, I will post any updates to this thread.

FYI All - i did a post to the Freeview NZ feedback page and directed them to this thread. Hopefully they spot it and investigate. The haven’t responded yet.

You terrestrial signal to load freeview epg, freeview plus is mpeg4 loads from epg. No on demand without dvb-t.

You can cast from smartphone and laptops though.

Thought so... I just tried casting and it is very patchy. TVNZ won't start at all and Three Now works 50% of the time.
