+1 for don't rely on your smart TV for "smarts" over the long term.

(Android TV perhaps being an exception as apps will endure beyond the life of the TV OS).

I likewise have a Shield and Mi Box ($90NZD) and only recently installed Matt Huismans Kodi Addons and they really are very good. ie. All NZ and Aus channels via IPTV - incl an EPG.

AND NZ OnDemand Addons.

AND LightBox, Fanpass and hopefully soon a SkyGo Addon.

Highly recommended.

Oh yeah and as both of these streamers are AndroidTV based you can do a truck load more.

Heads up, the sky go addon for sports only is up now and working

This weekend I decided to install the ThreeNow app on a Sony A1 Android TV.

What a piece of crap. I tried to login five times. I am pretty sure password was correct as I tried on the laptop in front of the TV, Just to make sure I changed the password and tried again a few times and couldn't login.

At the end I just told parents-in-law to use the Freeview On Deman app instead.

yeah it’s pretty painful compared to TVNZ on demand. And even that isnt great. Luckily there bugger all on 3 I’m interested to watch.
