I tried it on my 260 and yes it is garbage. I only use the 260m for recording so I turned the Freeview not so smarts off and all is good. My LG TV runs the new Freeview service fine so that at least is good.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I was wanting to get a Dish 2200, the thread put me off. Freeview Plus seems great, well it did.

I know TV is quite new......  :-)

So you can no longer record via the freeview EPG?
That was the easiest way to record.

I have no issues with setting recordings via the EPG Guide on my units.

There is no Freeview EPG on the new ‘light’ version. Only the inbuilt EPG the device manufacturer provides. Recording isnt the issue, it’s the reduction of access to online streaming content

Recording is working fine for me off OEM EPG

Sure but recording via the Freeview UI was a much better experience. It also had links to similar content you might be interested and the program information was presented nicely with graphics.
The OEM EPG and it’s timer functionality seems like a step back to days gone by imo.

I received a call from Panasonic this morning and the guy was apologetic but said there was nothing they could do. He asked me to please put pressure on Freeview to fix the issue.

Freeview stated that the light version was deployed due to performance issues but that it was an improvement. I replied saying it was not an improvement but a horrible work around that removed significan amounts of functionality that was previously available.

I asked if Freeview was working to find a solution and if not, to escalate my complaint to management so that they might respond.

Who is benefiting from the new updated version? These types of products should last years without needing to be upgraded to new models, so they can run the latest software. That is the environmentally friendly thing to do, rather than constantly replacing devices.

Freeview is near impossible to contact.

My EPG is still broken but better. Still recording a lot of programs on the plus one channels which of course are not HD. No reason to record on plus one..no conflicts.

I did attempt to loom at the new stuff, but it required an account and password..yuck. I saw no way to actually watch live television through it.

Yes, getting someone on the phone is a challenge.  Their call-tree system isn't terribly helpful.    Was getting replies to emails within 2-3 days however.  They keep insisting this is an improvement.  Not sure what planet they are on.

Bet they've been inundated. Best way to hide it - Not speak of it or let people bring it up?

At some point turned off Visitor posts on social media (pretty sure they were there at some time in the past, I recall people use it to report outtages in regions?)

Community page all but shut down - old images you can see people have posted previously before it was which seems to support above?

No peeps on the 'advice from viewers' forum https://freeviewforum.co.nz/ (couple mentioning issues since Nov9) or outtages page. https://freeviewforum.co.nz/page/network-status

Verrrry strange. Theres bout to be a massive userbase potential. I guess a lot dont make use of them?

Did you happen to see the news article recently? TVNZ considering subscription on-demand packages... https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=12147971
