When I suggested local interference, I was meaning within a few kms of area around the Remuera transmitter.

Call the Ministry of Economic Development as they run the radio inspectors. If it is local interference then they may be able to track down the source.

I have an ET box here in Wellington and the quality is fine. I did a manual tune into the local transmit site as I was getting pixelation prior to that as I can see both Baxters and Kaukau (or kookoo if you believe the radio broadcasters pronounciation of it??)

I wasn't watching TV last night much except the beginning of Nightline which was fine. I've never had a reception problem with anything but the TVNZ channels.

TVNZ channels were crappy for me again last night around the 6-7pm mark.  I'm located in St Marys Bay (Auckland), can see the entire Sky Tower from my place (about 3-4kms away if that), and I think my UHF aerial is pointing out west.

I'm getting sick of not having a consistant reception.

yeah the problem is we don't know whether it's our setup (aerial, wiring) or the actual transmission fault sigh.....

I have a similar issue. the odd freeze or pixilation but not all the time. Was bad the other night when the weather was crap but had no issues this morning. I mostly watch TV1 news and breakfast (I download everything else I watch). I have also had the same problem on fine days in the past so there doesnt seem to be any pattern to it. I have direct clear line of site from Wilton to Mt KauKau Wellington.

The signal strength for the infill locations like Remuera and Sky Tower is actually quite low. You might have better luck pointing your aerial in the general direction of Waiatarua.

Isn't that out west like I said mine is pointing?  I could be wrong.

Anyways, I'm in an apartment building so not so easy to change these things :(

there's actually a small antenna that u can plug into your TV  that u can just leave by your window (for apartment dwellers) - i think it's about half the size of a tissue box so that u don't have to use the building's one that splits into all other apartments - if u r interested i'll give u a number to call - he's very helpful

You have no idea what signal processing that antenna goes thru before it reaches you. Chances are the channels are bandstop filtered before distribution.

Call the apartment manager and tell them to fix it IMO, you pay body corp fees for a reason.
