But then they or someone else would have to find more content to screen.

I don't think there's much more to be scraped off the bottom of the free to air barrel.

I am disappointed by this. FoodTV on Sky is run by discovery and it's been very average since it was taken off the Local Company who was curating content for it.

New content is coming, but they still do long sections of the same chef and too many competitions etc.

I don't watch TV3, having said that, I have concerns for TV3 if discovery take it over.

Can't think anything more boring that watching food programs.

On the positive side for TV3, they are now owned by another TV company, rather than a bunch of Private equity wideboys...

But it probably isn't going to magically change their destiny which is a continuing loss of audience to non-linear delivery methods...

I did wonder when I read this news, if they will revamp their online TV stuff to make Mediaworks TV (or whatever it'll be called) a FTA/Subscription hybrid with the Discovery-owned channels not already on Sky available on yet another IPTV offering.

The +1 channels are occasionally handy. For example when there are too many programmes being recorded at the same time, the +1 channel can be used to record something that might otherwise have to be missed. (We don't have our TV connected to the internet and some things aren't available OnDemand anyway.)

Perhaps a halfway measure where they keep the +1 on SD for TV3 / THREE (their "Flagship" channel(... which is occasionally handy, and drop Bravo +1 for some actual decent content thats not just timeshifting reality TV shows.

I guess we may see a new logo for THREE, huh?

All their usa programs are badly converted from 60 fps down to 25 with a horrible unwatchable judder on all panned shots

Even their online content had the exact same encoding faults as when they played out on their channel. Its clear to me they are taking 1080 60 fps and downgrading it and playing it out as Sd at 25 fps.

Property Brothers was one show they were promoting on their facebook , hell even the adverts for it had the same awful jumping video on panned shots.

People might not notice if they have motion settings enabled on their tv..but its still obvious on their on demand site throught he web browser

I suppose it's possible their frequency uses a small bandwidth only capable of 25FPS which might make it cheaper as it uses less space.

That's what the channel does. If you want cooking or Survivor like programs try somewhere else.
