Android TV is IMHO an incredibly polarising product - people either love it or hate it. I fall in the later and would never purchase a TV that used it as the operating system.

Interesting to hear you say this - I'm a huge android fanboy as love the versatility & customization of the OS (generally supports the largest range of apps)

However the TV won't actually be used by me but rather guests at a motel - so it's pretty important that the unknowledgeable user can work it, maybe in this regard Android TV may leave something to be desired..

You're looking at totally the wrong options for a TV then - you need a proper hospitality TV not a consumer grade TV set. Putting a consumer set in a hospitality situation is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Wondering if you could expand on this a little as to what you think the main issues will be?

As I understand there are a bunch of launcher options that can be installed on top of android TV should we want to lock the interface down further.. This is not the case with other smart TV OS's.
