Might be something Mediawatch could be interested in? "TV3 viewers can't hear their programmes, and TV3 can't hear their complaints"
Thank you Ive just emailed them, lets see if they respond.
We have a fairly old Panasonic HDD recorder tuned the Sky Tower transmitter in Auckland. Have zero problems with audio on TV3 news or TV3 in general.
We do have pixelation and drop outs with the channels on one of the transponders (HGTV etc) because the antenna in/on our building is under-performing and the property manager is hard to get any action out of. Switching back to the tuner on the Samsung TV usually resolves the issue in all but wet weather.
What trouble shooting steps have you taken to rule-out an issue like deteriorating/misaligned antennas on your end? Do you have any luck when using other audio settings?
If this was an issue with the transmission, surely there would be droves of people experiencing the same problem?

There are two of us and different ends of the island with the same problem. It is intermittent and I can't prove it yet but I think it is in live to air programmes only. So ... I think it is at source
The UHF atenna is only a year old and in perfect condition. It doesnt happen on any other channel which I have mentioned. Its so erratic that its to hard to test much as you never know when it is going to play up. Weather has nothing to do with it as it may happen on a clear or wet day. Ive tried all adio formats but that doesnt change anything...
Audio dropouts again in Newshub At 6.00PM tonight (28 March) in Waikanae. Everything was OK last night.
jonherries: We have had the same issue, freeview uhf, sony tv. Agree tv3 only. Is happening this evening.
I pipe the audio through ARC to atv and homepod minis and thought it might have been that, but now not so sure.

Where are you?
Can now confirm that it is not only happening to live broadcasts but also pre-recorded programmes. Had issues with NCIS on Saturday. I will email them again today. Still no reply from my previous email.

I can confirm it was happening again last night on the 6pm news which I recorded. I dont watch much on TV3 usually only Breakfast and the 6pm news and it happens on both. Do you know if it happens on programs also?

Yes last nights News at 6, and also has above NCIS - I think that is all we watch on TV3.
I've noticed it during the news a few times on the Sky HD feed. Seems to be something with TV3's feed.
It's not a massive pain and I'm not sure whether anyone else even noticed when we were watching. Still annoying enough that I notice it.
I use DVB-T in Porirua from Baxters Knob. I get great TVNZ and poor Media Works channels. It seems more than just audio loss though. I get video distortion momentarily and from then on, the audio sync is out. Changing channel and changing back puts it back in sync at least until the next video dropout occurs. very frustrating and been going on so long. maybe many others have similar issues, and for the most part, like us, just live with it, as, what else can you do?
