James you have still not said what Video card you have? It may be as simple to fix as a updated driver.

ok firstly what verseon of windows 7 are you using secondly what is your video card not your tv tuner card and thirdly does it find any channels if it scans or does it just not scan my bad just saw that you have already said your video card so disregard secondly

Yeah I think version of Windows may be the key. It tells you on the desktop will be something like 7068

What are you outputting to? I take it that hitting the back button takes you back to the mediacentre interface? What happens if you bring up the contect menu while in the Live TV screen(CTRL+D if you don't have a remote)?
