I thought TVNZ had the rights to Wimbledon and the US Open and were going to use Sport Extra to do extra coverage of that?

They will be using Sports Extra for Wimbledon, but only on DTT. Their plan is to stop the service in July

openmedia: On Sky's platform?

Sky have their own transmission of TV One on Optus D1 in addition to TVNZ's four regional feeds.

Thanx.  But the way your original post read  it looked like Sky was ditching their SD feed of TV 1 and only having the HD feed..

There is an un-enctrypted TVNZ feed on SKYs TP 12672 (that I'm tapped in on). A lot clearer/highter bR than TVNZs own ones causing the current garbage quality (which is why a lot of us are on it)

From how I understand it, this is being switched off in the near future due to the source agreements with TVNZ for sky to re-broadcast them in HD. So in a way, also correct

I bet there are a million and one sports that would love the exposure they could get on this channel, but of course NZ is only interested in watching rugby, cricket and netball.

Would it really cost too much more (over and above the 24x7 loop they have now) to show some basketball, football, league, swimming, athletics, x-games or even some regional sport?

NZ has plenty of world class athletes that arent part of the dominating sports so why not show them throughout the year, rather than trying to look like we actually care only once every four years.

TVNZ surely has nothing to lose in getting local sport exposed rather than sitting look sad because Sky has all the major sport.
