What equipment and software version are you running.

Newer Linux tools use a different HE-AAC decoder that appears to work. They've changed the stream on the freeview|HD version of C4 slightly and it breaks older builds of faad.

Hi all, I also don't have sound channel 9 C4, any clues how to enable it? All the other channels are okay, on my HTPC I have MythTV version 0.23.1+fixes26437-0ubuntu1,

Ordinary Freeview TV works ok on C4, but my HTPC has no sound on C4. I have tried a rescan and have fiddled with MythTV audio settings
It used to work, what has changed? In MythTV it says LIBFAAD_LATM ?ch looks like it can't understand what sound it neds to use
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

You will need to upgrade to MythTV 0.24 which has improved AAC support.

I've been testing 0.24 but at the moment it isn't as stable as 0.23.xxx

Same thing is happening in my Acer 8920 laptop. using an AVerMedia A309 (MiniCard, DVB-T) and DVBViewer.
My Sony freeview receivers are working fine.

I was advised the following in another forum.

Check which Audio codec you are using and make sure you have a current
version.

When C4 moved to replace C42 they tweaked the HE-AAC encoder slightly which
is causing issues with older codecs.

So it looks like a new codec.  From where?

Try DivX if you're on Windows.

I tried the DIVX codec and it corrects the issues with C4, but skipping TS with Mediaportal became inaccurate so I went back to Monogram.

Looks like i'll just have to watch C4 on DVBS.

Just seeing this thread jogged my memory...
The other night as I grazed past c4 I noticed that it was showing the I/II audio thing - ie more than one audio stream. When I pressed the button on the remote it display something like mono and mono as the options (from my somewhat unreliable memory).
So dont know what they are doing with it.

The TV is an 18 month old Panasonic v10 plasma - if that helps.

Did you need to change anything to get it working?

No, Mediaworks changed something. Monogram compatibility broke when C42 turned into C4, and now they've fixed it again. I wish we knew what they'd changed because if it was a "legal" stream then technically Monogram should have supported it (as should FAAD2 etc.)...

I've just checked under an older MythTV 0.23 build and the audio is now working again on the DVB-T feed of C4.

I'm guessing that HE-AAC on Linux would use FAAD2 almost exclusively (???). If you've been following this thread then you'd realise that Monogram is based on FAAD2. For that reason it isn't much of a surprise that your Myth box now works again. I wish I had taken a recording of C4 DVB-T while it was broken so I could reproduce the problem. I went to the effort of downloading the FAAD and Monogram code and started going through it on the assumption that this wasn't going to be fixed in a hurry. Now that it works I have no chance of finding the issue. YellLaughing
