ArcticSilver: Well, I am really disappointed.

There goes real news.

I love TVNZ7 for one reason, they debate, they have real unbiased news. They take the time to look at both views etc. It is really sad to see the only source of debate on TV in NZ is moving/going away. Now unfortunitly the only way to get both sides of the debate is online.

If i had my way TVNZ 7 would be funded, even at a loss. Unbiased and informative news is very important and we don't get anywhere near enough of it, I don't want NZ turning into America.

You can still get good news in the US.  It's on PBS..

I dont see why a news channel could not attract enough advertising to be fully paid for. Would rather that then all the bludging for donations that PBS does.

1 - Turn it into a news/quality doco/current afairs/interviews channel.
2 - Add advertising

Although it will be sad to see TVNZ7 go I just cannot get my head around providing public money - or TV shows paid for with public money to a pay TV operator that over half the country cannot view.
Does this government have a hidden agenda to get everyone in NZ subscribed to sky so they can shut down all other TV services and sell off the frequencies to Sky at massive profit??
