Going Digital tentatively says July, but warns that it could take longer due to possible weather conditions.

DjShadow: I'm assuming all the JDA sites (which is everywhere bar taranaki) are going to involve a new pole/tower

I doubt very much theres any new towers going up

All the current FreeviewHD transmitters as I understand it are mounted on Kordia towers (with the exception of the sky tower), all the new regions are going to be provided by JDA with the exception of taranaki (Kordia) hence new towers/poles

xpd:

looks like if you buy on the North side of Whangaparaoa Peninsula , you miss out at the moment. :(

Not necessarily true.  I'm on the "north side of the peninsula", near to Stanmore Bay beach, the Red Beach end, (I'm actually a very short walk onto the beach).  In my favour would be that I'm near the top of a hill.  I can get Freeview HD via a fairly whimpy UHF aerial.  Did need one of those powered booster thingy-me-bobs plugged into it though.

I realise this doesn't help you, and I'm not trying to give you a "Ha ha I get it, you dont" message but just wanted to clarify that you can get it on the peninsula and you dont have to be able to see the top of the sky tower to do so.  If you've had someone round to check I would imagine you're just unfortunate.

According to their website they only have 2 main transmitter sites: Sky Tower and Ruru Hill (south of Morrinsville - Waikato, mediaworks/radio network transmitter)

injuised: Email from freeview today

The extension to the Freeview|HD platform is currently under construction. Some regions may have already switched on for testing. We are still waiting for the official date when the new areas will be launched by the Minister and when the government will have an announcement. In the mean time we have modified our address search function to include the new extension areas. A result of ‘COMING SOON’ with a click through to a new page explaining the extension is now available.

Wtgn CBD has freeview HD....

Which part of Aro st are you in? Can you get normal tv3, prime etc using a normal aerial? If you can get Maori TV reasonably, then you will be able to get Freeview HD.

Do you even have an aerial? You should have 2, one skinny long one (uhf) and one big wide one (vhf).

Maybe you need to call a contractor such as aerial master, or an electrician.
