So we bought a nice shiny 50" TV recently with built-in Freeview... Freeview site says we should get HD coverage - we dont. (Installer has been out and checked it all, on wrong side of the road and too low)

Found this article regarding more coverage areas but it dosent state where or when exactly things are happening.

Anyone know more detail on where the coverage will be made ? Whangaparaoa Peninsula in those plans ?

Frustrating.......

I have been trying to find this out myself, but I don't think there is anything published. APparently it will be all done by the world cup, but I wouldn't hold my breath

Which shows I should be able to get it but I cant. I wont be the only one on the Peninsula in this situation either.... looks like if you buy on the North side of Whangaparaoa Peninsula , you miss out at the moment. :(

Edit : Sorry, my bad I see what youre getting at :) So theres hope..... ;)

If you know the names of the transmitters accessible from your property then you can look them up in SMART with the transmitter name in "Transmit Location" and "dtv" in "Channel".

That won't give a timeframe but it at least shows which sites are planned to have digital.

Is this any help?

Edit: Forgot to mention that it's an older map and doesn't list Freeview on any of the new sites. You should cross-check them in SMART.

Regarding the "when", Going Digital says June for all sites except Taranaki.

Email from freeview today

The extension to the Freeview|HD platform is currently under construction. Some regions may have already switched on for testing. We are still waiting for the official date when the new areas will be launched by the Minister and when the government will have an announcement. In the mean time we have modified our address search function to include the new extension areas. A result of ‘COMING SOON’ with a click through to a new page explaining the extension is now available.

Following on from the comment above, has anyone found any test signals in the new areas?
