some more annoyances...

1/ the rf loopout doesn't work unless the t1020 is on. so i can't watch (analog) prime etc on the tv alone. i have to turn on the t1020 as well. [yes it'll be a redundant issue when the analog signals are switched off but it's an annoynance at the moment]

2/ if the t1020 unit is turned off (ie in sleep mode) and a scheduled recording begins,
the t1020 is unresponsive (ie you can't turn on the unit to watch anything,) until the recording finishes

3/ further more, following issue 2. the t1020 unit doesn't turn itself, or the hdd, off, after recording from sleep mode.

4/ you can't add a bookmark during normal viewing of a recorded program. you have to enter the edit mode.

Release an "unapproved firmware", so that those of us who want to can upgrade the box to lose the EPG (which I understand a box has to be Freeview approved to use), in return for getting rid of the annoyance of not being able to transfer HD material. This is a requirement related to Freeview approval and EPG use, not a legal requirement.

Where are the radio channels , it finds them during a scan ?
Another wish list is for me to create different folders , so you can put your recordings in different folders ,
now its just one long list !
My Topfield satellite receiver can do that

3)    If a recorded show is viewed only halfway, then stopped, its necessary to start all the way from the beginning again or use fast forward.

There is  a work around.  Before I stop the playback, I first pressed the "info" buttion to note where I am at (e.g. 5mins into a 30min programme).

Then I stopped the programme.  Then go to thumbnail browser.

Then I go to list mode using one of the colour buttions.

Then I move my cursor / selection bar to the programme I just watched.  Press the grenn buton ("EDIT") and select edit book mark.

The the programme will playback in a small box and there is a text box you can enter the time.

Then I will press the down button once to get to the text box, and enter 00:05:00.

The playback will jump to that point (but you are still in the same screen), press the Green button to add a bookmark.

Once this is done.  Click the back button.

When you are ready to watch the programme again.  Playback as normal, then press the "right" button and it will jump to the first bookmark.

You can add up to 8 bookmarks.

Cheers!

For (2), I don't have that problem.  Say my unit was originally in sleep mode, and a shceduled recording begins, I can press the power button on the remote and the box will turn on.  To be more precise, if the box was doing some recording after it "wake up" from sleep mode, there is no signal sent via the HDMI cable.  But if I press the power button on the remote, the signal will be on again.

I do experience (3) sometime.

Which version of firmware are you on.

when the t1020 unit is self recording from sleep mode, pressing the power button (or any other button, for that matter) does nothing for me . the unit is completely unresponsive until the recording finishes and then the power button works. i then have to press once, to turn the unit off (as there is no picture) and again to turn it on, get picture.

i'm using a3ust13_17_01oe

another annoyance is...

the timer sometimes loops upon itself, eg recorded final destination 2 on tv2 the other week. lets say its 120 minutes long (i can't remember off hand). i
watch about 10 minutes of it and the timer says its 40 minutes in;
i watch about 30 minutes of it and the timer now says its (the end of the movie at) 120 minutes in;
i watch about 40 minutes of it and the timer says its 40 minutes in again;
i watch about 60 minutes of it and the timer says its 20 minutes in again. etc
when it's like this, the edit/bookmark function & the skip button are unless
. try skipping to, say, 61 minutes in on the timer and you jump to near the start of the film..

this problem may not be unique to the t1020 as i've experienced this on another brand

+1

I`m using version 1.1a.

Also my unit will randomly switch on /load/boot/init/P001 during the course of the day.
sometimes it switches off again sometimes it doesn`t...

But on the plus side it does record properly now.

BraaiGuy: Some feedback from DishTV:
They Replied:
Thanks for your feedback . It is exactly what we need ,   We are already implementing   1,2,3,  points .  Streaming is a work in progress but we are limited with Freeview HDCP . We cannot allow file transfer of any HD content .
Item 5 we will look at .

BraaiGuy: Perhaps it's worth you alerting them to this thread (and the other thread on here - although this one is more recent and relevant to current issues).

i installed the 1.1a driver to see if it'd fix the issues listed above.

now my t1020 won't begin recording from sleep mode at all. all scheduled programs to be recorded are not actioned when my t1020 is left in sleep mode. I'd rather not have the unit (or my hdd) on 24 hours a day.

anyone still have a copy of an older version? preferably, version a3ust13_17_01oe. dated 22 may 2011. .

I'd like to go back to the last version where i was at least still able to begin recording from sleep mode. i couldn't find any links on the dishtv site to any past drivers.

having also installed the 1.1a driver , i'm getting random rebooting of the t1020 as well.
most frustrating, esp. during recording a program. it just stops. recording isn't resumed.

I have just installed this box for my grandma, have the lounge tv running nicely, I have run an extra cable from the RF out to the tv in the kitchen, but cannot get this tv to tune in the free view channel from the box. Do I need to get a modulator in-between to allow the t1020 to send the signal to the second tv?

this is a slap in the face!
