sbiddle: ATI simply is an inferior solution to NVidia for H.264. Despite what many ATI fans may say on here it still doesn't handle H.264 hardware decoding properly.

My ATI solution was working fine and dandy for many months, and still is on every channel except Prime. There was/is a problem with the Prime feed with some range of hardware. The full scope of hardware that has been effected is uncertain right now. It would be nice to hear from an Nvidia HTPC user (with HW acceleration?) who was able to watch Prime Cricket/Prime Rugby.

Seems there are currently Prime TV problems with ATI hardware using hardware acceleration on media PCs, previous poster on a "new Tivo" perhaps.

I watched to whole game on my relatively new Tivo (did not have the latest software update); Prime from the Kapiti transmitter - and actually thought it was darned good picture. No problems.

I've had the same problem. Programmes recorded from Prime on Thursday and Saturday show pixellation, green screens, periodic freezes etc when played on the PC. The same recording files play without issue when transferred to my Popcorn Hour media player.

Freeview DVB-T from the Waiatarua (Auckland) transmitter.

Oh the bad old days of getting my HTPC working with AMD's Catalyst drivers.....

The problems then were always to do with TV3 and 1080i and have not occurred for a couple of years now. I too would be interested to know if anyone with an NVidia card suffered or did not suffer with the same problem.

hdinsider: Are other channels on the kordia mux ok? Like Maori tv? If they're also bad, maybe it's your aerial.

Its ok on all the other Channels that use the same mux like Trackside and the 2 Chinese channels so its not a aerial problem in my case I get BER 0 and 100% Sig level on these channels and I have a top German WISI EE 06 Phase Array.

I even fitted a attenuator as overload is a problem with Digital TV.

I found out to day that its also affecting Toshiba TV Prime channel freezing, was demo to me in Noel Lemmings Kapiti, and DSE got a email from some one about it.

Seems to me its caused by SKY Igloo DVB-T2 that was implemented last week.

Prime has been unwatchable for the last few days using Samsung TV (DTT) in Wellington. Same symptoms on WinTV card in PC. On the Sony TV and a Zinwell box (all DTT) the picture has been OK, so it looks like it is chipset dependent. Checked RF levels all have plenty of margin and quality. Other programme streams on same MUX are OK.

Nvidia hardware here, Lower Hutt and getting pixellation moderate to bad on Prime only.

Thanks for that. Always good to clarify whether 'A' doesn't work but 'B' does. Seems this is a problem on a few platforms - home-built AMD and NVidia HTPCs, TIVO and Samsung & Toshiba TVs as well (if I have followed this thread correctly).

A colleague of mine just called Prime. Using the number off Prime's website, he got thru to Sky who said you need to call Prime.... Good start.

Anyway after about 20 minutes, around 18 of which was being on hold, he gave up.

I'll add Sony to the list of problem hardware.
My LG TV and JC Matthew are OK, but my Sony TV is having problems with Prime, pixellating , freezing etc.

I can also confirm play back of recorded programs from Prime using hardware acceleration on my Nivida and ATI machines also causes pixellation. Play back using software rendering is OK.

Being the colleague who tried to get through to Sky - I will add Panasonic Freeview LCD's to the list on TV's having an issue. Auckland Waiatarua Transmitter...

I just contacted Samsung and talked to a Eng that I know, its a nation wide problem that affect some of there TV's and other brands from what I have found out, they have exculated it.

My bet its caused by Igloo.

Had same problem in Hastings over the weekend. It was fine when going through my Panasonic Plasma TV, but when played via media center was unwatchable, I just thought it was the media centre before I read this post.

There is currently a problem with the Prime service on Freeview|HD and Freeview satellite. This does not affect all receivers and Prime and Kordia(transmission provider for Prime) are currently working to fix the problem.
