Flippikat: Isn't Choice TV going to be on the Kordia mux though?

I was under the impression that they were going to be using space previously used by Stratos..

No No, The Stratos frequency is not being replaced by Choice TV, it was even confirmed by Freeview NZ, From the email I got from MediaWorks, the Stratos 21 Frequency is on sale and two broadcasters are discussing a sale. Choice TV is a comepletey different.

i wish juice tv would broadcast on free tv even just to Auckland would be fine

So does that certainly mean that Choice TV will either be on the TVNZ or Mediaworks mux?
(ie if the Stratos space on the Kordia mux is being negotiated over by a different operator, there's no room for Choice TV AS WELL on the Kordia mux?)

No, I would say not. There is room for two new SD TV channels on the Kordia [terrestrial] mux. 6 Mbps or so worth of space. To put that in perspective, Prime runs with just over 2 Mbps. That is quite low. Maori TV runs with about 3 Mbps.

[Edit: so in other words, the space on the satellite is up for grabs for the other channel(s) that would presumably also be broadcast on the Kordia terrestrial mux. ChoiceTV seems like it will be terrestrial only.]

My Freeview decoder has picked up the Spare decoder on channel 17 and TV9 on channel 18.

Nothing new here (Lower Hutt) on my Samsung TV with built in Freeview UHF, but I'm pretty sure that's been the case in the past with test channels.

I guess they're flagged not to show up just yet.

I'm seeing a new channel number 72 on the Kordia mux (just a black screen) but nothing new on the TVNZ mux. I'm on Te Aroha.

According to the NIT info, the channel is number 256 and is hidden. Freeview-approved boxes technically shouldn't show it.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

My Magic TV shows "Spare encoder" channel 256 but the sound quality was terrible that last I looked. I hope they're not going to downgrade their audio encoding system.

There is also an "MHEG Ghost" channel at 799.

Picture on 256 is crap compared to 6 - the U logo is breaking up into a mess of macroblocks like most of the channels on sky do. And massive trails from it and anythign else that moves.

Cant judge the sound since its the inbuilt speakers on my warehouse 24" tv and its playing some horrid live concert
