A scan now on terrestrial Kaukau (Wellington) brings Sommet Sports on channel 14 with full guide.

Well done guys.  Officially launched :)

grolschie:
DamageInc: How do you tune into this? Tried updating but no sports channel.
I have a Hills HSM075 Freeview box.

That's a satellite/DVB-S box right? If so, then you won't be able to receive Sommet Sports with it. It's only on terrestrial i.e. Freeview|HD via DVB-T/UHF.

Yes it is, yep just my luck oh well.

Excellent news. Well done indeed!. I see 5 items on the EIT program guide on our non-MHEG5 box (which is better than the 2 entries I see for One, TV2, TV3, Four). The more items the merrier I say. :-)

Happy to report that I can view Sommet on channel 14 using Windows 8 Media Centre from Sugarloaf. At the moment the MCE guide does not list Sommet as a channel despite performing a scan and getting new EPG data with EPG Collector. However, if one types in 14 the channel will tune and you can briefly see the current program name on the on-screen display.

I haven't been inconvenienced by the lack of NZ MHEG support thus far, nor have I really noticed any difference other than the move from 114 to 14, though I appreciate they have literally just completed this and may still be tweaking things.

Samsung telly needed a rescan to get the channel - which is fine. MHEG5 EPG is now populated. Channel bug is not transparent yet though - but I don't have a plasma TV. ;-)

It is available on all our devices but the picture quality is not good. The channel logo is way to bright and I suspect it could cause burn in issues on some sets

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Yep I have it as well now on our Dick Smith 42" (which wouldn't let me scan 114) in Carterton

Now while I don't really put a lot of emphasis on picture quality (as in I'm quite happy to watch DVB-S SD over DVB-T HD without noticing a lot of difference) the picture quality of that German MotoGP was really blurry & I still have sore eyes, that was from only watching about five minutes of it....

I find this rather disappointing as I was looking forward to being able to watch some sport again as I totally refuse to pay Sky for it. Oh well I will have another look later & see if it's any better then...

Samsung LCDs found channel 14 without tuning, EPG all good.
IGLOO Box needed a retune, NO EPG as yet.
MAY need to sit on Ch27 for 30mins before the EPG updates?
Picture quality reasonable on smaller screen sizes 32" 26"
Channel LOGO is too bright as suggested by others.
Generally all good to go.
