Gordy7:
Added heatsinks and made current measurements.
Heatsinks made much of a difference? Ive found since sticking mine on top of a fan its running much better. No wifi dropping, only the occasional flash and audio glitch. Nothing like it was before.

I have been running my SmartVu for over 4 hrs today - No problems so far.
The heatsinks are pretty hot by the touch test. Can't really say if the heatsinks are pulling the heat out from the best place.
Time will tell.
The current indicates that the SmartVu is dissipating between 1.1 and 2.5 watts... mostly at the high end.... quite high for such a small package

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.
The weather is quite cold at the moment. I do wonder how it will cope in the summer, as it does feel hot when in use. I do wonder why they needed to make it so small, as I was expecting something larger.
It is really like a TV remote control - you don't have to learn anything much different than your sat receiver probably.

Which I thought people would know if following the Spark Sport thread, but here is the Freeview release:
Spark Sport now available on the Freeview A2 Recorder and SmartVU X streaming device
Rugby fans rejoice! Via a new partnership between Freeview and Spark, Spark Sport will be available on the Freeview A2 Recorder and Freeview SmartVU X streaming devices, giving Kiwi sports enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy their favourite matches from the comfort of their own home.
All matches in the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2019 will be available for viewers to stream through a Spark Sport Rugby World Cup Tournament Pass.
The addition of Spark Sport content broadens the growing ecosystem of entertainment Kiwis can already enjoy on Freeview.
New Zealand’s first personal video recorder (PVR) powered by Android TV, Freeview’s A2 Recorder allows viewers to watch Live TV, On Demand content and Record their favourite shows - entirely subscription-free. With the Recorder, viewers also have access to a range of other features including numerous Android TV apps on Google Play.
And now, Kiwis without an aerial or satellite dish can also access Freeview. Released late last year, the Freeview SmartVU streaming device is a tiny gadget that can connect to almost any TV, allowing viewers to watch Live TV streamed over the internet, as well as access Freeview On Demand and other third-party apps such as Spark Sport, Netflix, Lightbox and YouTube on Google Play.
Freeview’s CEO, Jason Foden, says the partnership with Spark Sport further solidifies Freeview’s commitment in providing the best TV experience for New Zealanders.
“There’s no doubt that rugby is part of our Kiwi culture – so we’re excited to provide our viewers with access to the premium content available on Spark Sport and experience the exhilaration of the Rugby World Cup 2019 together.
“In the future, we’ll expect to see more content partnerships that will further enrich TV viewing for New Zealanders,” Foden concludes.
Created in partnership with local manufacturer Dish TV and priced from $139, these compatible Freeview devices can connect to any TV to stream Spark Sport on the big screen, offering a lean-back viewing experience as an alternative to purchasing new Smart TVs.

As covered in a post a few pages back - https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=243399&page_no=24#2269643
Ive plugged one of these into mine: 4in1 Micro USB Adapter So far its working fine. Using my airmouse via it. Plugging in my USB hard drive does cause it to reboot everything though. No reason you cant plug in a USB ethernet adapter in there. I had already tried my one from my Chromecast and it detected fine, just didnt have any spare lan cables to test it completely with!

Received the email and posted on here before I saw it on the SS thread.

I'm using this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33005383629.html works perfect for me, in case you want to try it, use 3 exactly same cables to avoid conflicts.
