Question - if the T2200 is powered off (i.e. power cable attached however no lights on the front of the unit), will the Schedfule still work? Will the T2200 still record your shows? Or do you need to leave the unit on?

As long as the unit has a red light when off or is in standby mode, then any booked shows will be recorded, (The unit will power on to record then turn off again)

Ahh yes. My unit does have a small red light - it's quite dim in daylight, so I didn't notice it.

the app suffers the same issue with the double button press being registered when you only press it once. This happens the same as with the remote when there is any form of menu/display on the screen it will register the push twice.

I noticed that the Warehouse had the T2200 for $349 yesterday so rushed out and bought one but from what I have seen so far I think it will be going back. I bought it to replace our Sky Digital box but the FreeView Plus seems to be unusable. I didn't think it was possible but it is even more laggy than the new Sky software and most of the time won't actually play an on demand program when I select it. A couple of arrows that form a circle appear at the bottom left of the screen (see pic 1) and nothing else happens.

The first time I tried this I had a recording going so wondered if it was that interfering as the box seemed very slow to respond as well but it still happens when nothing else is happening on the box and it happens on all On Demand channels.

I also selected the yellow button to go back 24 hours and the schedule just showed Loading and never updated (see pic2).

I tried going in to the On Demand menu where you can select Movies, TV, On Demand etc and the main screen was missing most of the content (see pic3). If I arrowed down to select something I could make the days change but still no content was shown. The apps weren't showing when I selected that screen either.

70% of the time when I did manage to get the box to play an On Demand program from the FreeView Plus schedule it just loaded the appropriate On Demand app and displayed the app home screen leaving me to try and find the program manually. Not sure if this is a FreeView Plus issue, an app issue or a failure of the box but it makes the feature pointless.

I also left the box on the user guide screen whilst I had dinner and when I returned I couldn't get the box to respond so had to unplug it. The light on the front was flashing when I pressed buttons on the remote and the guide was still showing but it wouldn't do anything. I couldn't even turn it off.

I manually recorded a program and stopped it in the ads at the end of the program and it created two entries, one with the name of the program I had recorded and one with the name of the next program (see pic4). That might be by design but is confusing.

I tried to schedule a recording and it tried to force me to use the +1 channel telling me that there were clashes with other recordings even though there was nothing else scheduled.

On the plus side the virtual remote control is cool and the media interface for playing downloaded films and music is better than the one on my WDTV. I can also stream the picture simultaneously from the HDMI and analog video ports which means I can share the picture around the house to other TVs via an old VCR which is something the Sky box can also do but my Apple TV can't.

From what I have seen so far it isn't good enough to replace my Sky Digital PVR and it would make a very expensive media player so I suspect I will be taking the T2200 back unless anyone can suggest how to get around the FreeView Plus working properly.

Don't use wifi , hook it to a cat 5 cable. Internet connection is also a factor that your box cant help even if it were water cooled and over clocked :) . My sky is twice the price for the box plus the cost of the box every 4 months in fees if you don't buy outright. Apples and oranges in some ways..

Do you have the latest firmware? should be 01.23 dated 14th jan

for ondemand stuff you need to be connected to the internet with the box (via wifi or ethernet) have you done this? if you are connected via wifi, what is the signal strength like, if it is poor that could very well explain things.

the scheduling and +1 problem has been noted and i believe is being addressed

Thankyou for getting in touch, the FreeviewPlus service is an independent component (so that means us Dish TV who built your product did not create FreeviewPlus) so there are some variables that we need to establish which should require simple readjusting of your current set up. I have indicated the following:

Because FreeviewPlus uses the internet, the user interface data is retrieved from the internet and is limited by the network environment, for example, if you are using the T2200 under WiFi, ensure that the antenna is flipped up and unobstructed, ensure the modem is in easy sight of the unit as walls and objects will slow down the connection and the download of data for FreeviewPlus to work.
Ensure that no one else is using the internet which might be causing the unit to slow down for example, someone streaming in another room or a whole bunch of WiFi devices doing something at once.
Try use the Ethernet Port if you can, or a powerline adapter which you can get from our website will help speed up internet transfers to and from the unit, and helps with client sharing too. Powerline Adapters are useful if the modem is not in easy reach.

In terms of the Recordings via Manual, please can you let me know which one was the one you wanted and which one was the other not needed one?

As you have a new unit we have released a new software update on the 29th Jan which corrects a lot of bug fixes, you can scan for new software via Menu > Software Upgrade > Manual

Could you replicate the +1 booking and make some bookings on a range of channels with time shifts and see if the PVR sends the booking to the Plus 1 or the main channel, There might be two recordings one on the main and one on the Plus 1 channel but only the first recording will be stored ( or what ever comes first in some circumstances)

Thanks for your quick response. The unit updated the firmware to 1.23 when I first switched it on so I think it is using the latest firmware. It is plugged in to the back of our Fritz!Box router so isn't using wireless and we are on fibre so download speeds shouldn't be an issue especially as my children were out last night so wouldn't have been streaming!

When I get time I will have a further play with the manual recording. It kind of makes sense if you manually record and it picks up two programs that you would create two copies with two different names but the later one still has the recording start time so you have to fast forward to the start of the second program and in my case the 2nd program hadn't started as the ads were still on although the EPG had probably flipped over.

On reflection the +1 channel issue may have been because the program was about to start. On Sky it just starts recording but is it possible that the T2200 was trying to be helpful and push it to +1 to make sure that it got all of the program even though the program hadn't physically started?

I understand that you don't have any control over the FreeViewPlus but it makes for a bad user experience non the less.

After a firmware update , its often a good idea to do a factory reset. Might be worth a try to clear out any old settings

Hi, I have just downloaded the android app, and I think it is a great way to control the t2200. However, why do I have to put up with a bright flashing ad down the bottom of it. I have already spent hundreds of dollars on your device, why do you think it is right to get more money off me through having ads in the app. Please remove them. Thanks

I have had another quick play with the manual record button and I seem to be seeing a slightly different issue now. I pressed record around 10 minutes before a program was due to finish. The record timer helpfully suggested a record duration that would take me to the end of the current broadcast program so I accepted that.

As you can see in the picture below, once it had completed though I found that there was an entry in the Library for the program I was trying to record but when I went in to that folder it had picked up the program name from the next program.

interesting, The recording options allow for a program buffer before and after your program , what are your recording buffers set to , 10 mins either side of the program or more ? i see you began to record at 1722 8 mins from the end of the program, but less than 10 mins before the start of the next, just a thought. other thought is a full factory reset of the box with your newly acquired firmware
