joshhill96: Guess it has,

Interesting Shine being on HD on Channel 25 which means that it will be officially launched on the platform soon, Still don't understand how Rhema Broadcasting Group are getting the funds to run Shine TV on both Sat and UHF

Shines been on DTT CH 25 since March 2011 so it's not new..

Did I miss something, Shine is on UHF freeview? I thought it was just via Sat?

Second that, what transmitter are you using old3eyes?

Did a complete scan of Waiatarua no Shine on anything (unless it didn't scan an odd-ball UHF channel.   UHF 25 (506000000 Hz) was scanned, and there was nothing that claims EPG channel 25.

AK Sky tower.

joshhill96: For those not getting Shine TV, It is not on the Freeview transmission so your boxes and TV's wont get it, it is currently on Satelittle officially

Which is becoming an issue with DTT in NZ.  If the broadcaster does not want to pay Freeview a bucket load of money  and uses another transmission source their precious FV certified TVs and STB will never pick up those channels.  It's as bad a Sky enqyciption the FTA cahnnels via the C1 sat.. Atleast with analog  there was no such restriction and that Freeview is trying  to get a monopoly on DTT TV in this country.

This money thing is the main reason that Stratos closed and now only run an analog Chanel in AKL and that CUE or Shine are not  on FV DTT.  Cost..

I wonder how long Freeview will hold together - I'm not convinced that it will last in the long term for a few reasons:

- Value for money from a broadcaster perspective. Probably the most important thing they offer is the guide integration, but the lack of listings in TVNZ's teletext didn't stop local providers setting up analog channels in the past. There is evidence that the high costs are driving providers to look for alternative approaches (eg. STRATOS, Mainland TV).
- Reduced uncertainty about hardware standards. Lots of NZers now have DVB-T h.264 capable boxes, so providers can set up broadcasts that conform to that standard and have a ready-made market of viewers. They only need the broadcast licence and gear. Given that we're talking
- Going forward, the digital TV market looks set to get more diluted (eg. Igloo, future UFB based platforms, internet-based alternatives like iTunes, NetFlix, Hulu). The more diluted the market is, the less mindshare Freeview has, and the less value it offers to providers.
- TVNZ's commitment to Freeview.

Choice TV has just posted a sales reel on youtube!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8hvmZQMenM&feature=g-u-u&context=G25bee80FUAAAAAAACAA

They have a great lineup! Lots of existing shows, and new shows. Some of Topshelf's own shows are on the channel as well.

Looking good Choice TV!

Doesn't look too bad, some old, some new.  At least it gives NZers another channel option.

Now if only FetchTV and Hybrid would join and put FetchTV's lineup on TiVo

We all have different tastes of course, but while I don't expect to watch a lot of their programming I'll probably watch Choice TV more than I do Maori TV, or C4, or U or Parliament TV.

I agree too.
It looks like ChoiceTV has a similar line up to a combination of Living, FoodTV, UKTV etc. with some home grown stuff too which will appeal to those of us without Sky.

well I'm happy with what it will be showing.  I will definitely watch at least 2 regular programs.
Note I am pro Freeview and anti anything else.... so anything new (for English speaking EFL) on freeview generally gets me excited

Well, I've looked since I got home from work, and it's showing up on Channel 12 on my Samsung set with built-in Freeview UHF tuner - but no promo loop, just a blank screen at the moment.  :(

However, thanks to Youtube, we can watch THIS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8hvmZQMenM&feature=g-u-u&context=G25bee80FUA

For those who were watching earlier today - is this the same promo that was screening on Freeview a few hours ago?

Likewise for Manwatu (Wharite). The feed is live and the service details (including name) are present in the DVB SI, however the video and audio streams are black and silent respectively.
