Ok so last night was good up until about 9.30 for us where there was a huge wave of about 20 times in a row.

I Rang Panasonic this morning and they were great about it and have passed it up to there tech guy. I have also emailed Tony who I was talking to the link to this thread to show its not just me that's having this problem. I would say everybody who has this unit is experiencing this if there are 3 of us already having this problem on a brand new product.

Email to Tony.

"

Good morning Tony and thank you for your assistance this morning.

I purchased our DMR-HWT260 about a month ago however have only been using it for a couple of weeks since dropping out of sky (Aren’t we all)

As I outlined there is a random fault where a black screen will flash up for 1 to 2 seconds. This can go in waves of where it will do it for up to 10 -12 times one after another with up to 30 seconds of clear picture between.

Signal strength is 10/10 as we in line of sight at the tower.

It is not only just me that is having this problem other people are too. I would like to direct you to a thread on a message board where we have been discussing this. We have all tried swapping cables out etc and all different types of settings but nothing seems to stop this problem.

By all means please join the forum and post anything we may be able to try to resolve this issue.

I really like this unit and it would be a shame to have to return it because it’s not fit for purpose.

I have attached a small clip of it doing it so you can get an idea of what is happening.

Here is the link to the message board where it’s being discussed."

Tony if you could please just let me know you received this email so I know it made it through would be most appreciated.

Kind regards.

Jason

Have you got a heatpump nearby?
My Panasonic/MySky does a hiccup when the heatpump thermostat kicks in or out.

So mentioned this in the other thread instead of this one. Panasonic have got back to me and I have pointed them in the direction of this thread in regards to the black out problem we have been having.

Please post if you are still having these problems and frequency etc so they can get more of a handle on it as they are unable to produce this fault in house.

Jase.

Still having this problem.

It got REALLY bad the other night (1-2 flickers every 30 seconds), so I unplugged my HDMI splitter and went directly into the TV.  Same issue.

Turned off the TV, turned it on again. Same issue.

Powered off the Panasonic and then it was fixed, didn't see another flicker that evening.

It's very variable.  Sometimes it'll happen 3 times in 5 minutes then not at all again, othertimes it'll happen on a semi-regular basis (one every 5 minutes).

Never happens watching Netflix, it's only when watching Freeview itself.

Hey Muppet agree 100% it does it the exact same for me. Its been worse lately in the length of time its been doing it where it goes on for 30 mins plus that's when a power off and on fixes it for the night.

Yup no problems on netflix either.

I'm seeing this problem on the DMR-HWT260 too. Same as the others have described, audio not affected just the video.

Screen goes to black for a second or so, while watching live TV.

I started to have this issue with my DMR-BWT760GN one night with concerned me given this thread. However I discovered the problem, I had too many set recordings and the machine was having a fit. Stopped them and no return of the problem.

Those with blacking out issues - have you tried a different HDMI port?

Ive struck this a few times over the years, half the time its "fixed" using another port - a few years ago the most reliable port on a Panasonic TV was HDMI 2 (dont ask me why - never got round to digging deeper)

Had a new Samsung the other day with the same blacking issue - went from HDMI2 --> HDMI 1 = no issues....

I've tried all sorts.  It only happens when watching Freeview - it never happens when I'm using the Panny to watch Netflix or using its DLNA function.

Yup it is nothing to do with the hdmi port , Its a glitch somewhere with the unit. Both myself and @muppet are working with Panasonic to try and get to the bottom of it. I still believe it can be fixed with a firmware change.

Was already last night to try some things Panasonic suggested last night when it started happening and Murphys law kicked in and it did not do it last night.

Hey guys,

I'm having the same issues on my 550GZ random black screens. Sound still works. happens a few times every minute. Changed all my cables, still happening. I sent the recorder back to Noel Leeming who sent it to a service agent. They are charging me a service fee as they say there is nothing wrong with it.

Please note I have a new aerial setup with full signal strength, professionally installed.
