As always can get it from http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/epg

Change Log

Version 1.4.0.0

  • Added support for MediaPortal TV Server (pass in the parameter -mediaportalTVServer) this will save the file to the default location of "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server". This is not yet configurable and is still hard coded.
  • Hopefully fixed 64bit issue. (I don't have 64bit so can't test it)

Excellent, but I am finding I'm not totally clear on what to do.

I have extracted everything to C:\Program Files (x86)\Devnz\GBPVR

Following the directions on the GB-PVR page is impossible since the EPG folder does not exist, so I execute freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe

But that doesn't work either, that's Ok, I expected I'd need to do it from cmd 9as I tried last time), so I run cmd.
cd  C:\Program Files (x86)\Devnz\GBPVR

now:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Devnz\GBPVR>freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe

64bit found
Checking for newer version
You already have the latest version
An exception occurred during a WebClient request.
Operation complete

Still no EPG folder, obviously due to the WebClient error surely.

Could the fact that I have ff 3.0 beta as my default browswer be the cause?

Ahh sorry looks like I forgot a line in the tutorial.
You need make the folder "EPG" in the GBPVR folder.
That should fix the webclient problem.

Also have you set up the EPG location via the capture sources tab - this MUST be set up for it to work.
What have you set it as?

Ah, works now, nice job!

May I ask what skin you are using in GB-PVR?

The white background of the logo's are not as attractive as ones with a black background. (from having used the reven xmltvnz ones)

Would it be possible to make a version with different logos and let people choose?

Still that's totally unimportant, thanks for this neat prog/service, it's far better than xmltvnz.

Cool glad I fixed the 64 bit bug :D (just need to see how it works for people with 64 bit using Dvbviewer and mediaportal).

The icons are not provided by me, they are defined in the xml and are downloaded from the website when needed.
If you provide links to the images (ie they are accessible NOT zipped) will be cooler if they had transparent background - then skin doesn't matter. I could look at reading the xml EPG and writing in a new image location!

I can't take all the credit I don't provide the EPG data just a way to retreive it.

Well I might be able to help out there.

I have just got DVBviewer working, I could not get it to tune initially until I ignored the instructions and just used the default settings.
And while I have no idea how to for instance change channel when in full screen with the mouse (short of going to the EPG first) it is working better on TV3 than GB-PVR or MP, both have a jitter on 3 if used with EVR. (not a fan of MP!)

But anyway I followed the EPG instructions for dvbviewer, and it worked until I clicked channel pairings

CHANNEL PAIRING LOG
Processing: Pairings.xml
Pairings.xml not found.
This is not an Error: Going to create it!
Processing: epgdata.xml

Error popup:  Error on Analyzing files
Error: reading file                Click OK (log resumes):

Error on Analyzing files
Error: Reading File
Succes!
DVBViewer closed succesfully

It may claim success but it does not bring up the window you mentioned and 'test import' reports than none are paired.
I guess maybe the other progs are not 64-bit compatible?

hmm can you check that the file epgdata.xml exists where ever you told my program to put it?
Seems that the other program is hitting an error when it tries to read it.

The file size = 0 occurs when your ip address has been banned by the server for having to many accesses.
go to here http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/ and try download one the files and you will be given an error message.

Restart your router (or disconnect) to get a new IP address. this will solve it if you have static Ip you will have to wait for the ban to be over.

12 times in any 7 days. <Would it not make more sense to adjust it to 14 times in 7 days so it may be used with both dvbviewer and gb-pvr.

Seems my IP is static, how long is the ban? (and do failed attempts count for anything?)

This seems like something to warn people about since people are likely try different things if they are having problems, might be useful to know one thing not to  try is clicking update or executing any of the .exe's or .bats.

The website with the EPG data is not mine - it is just the source.

You dont need to have both programs download the file. Have one download it and extract then point the other one to it.

Ie set up GB-PVR to download the file (since it has the built in update function).
Then get dvbviewer to get its data from the GB-PVR folder.

So don't put the grabber executable or parameters when setting up importxml?

If you have both Dvbviewer and GB-PVR setup and you have a windows schedule for the dvbviewer I suggest:

Delete UpdateEPG.bat which is in C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR
This will stop GB_PVR downloading the EPG as well.

Now open up GB-Config and set the xml source file(from the capture tab) as the file that dvbviewer creates and set the update to a time after Dvbviewer runs.

under my Media Porta Setup options for Television I have
