@ajst2duk:
What are your system specs? is your PC up to the job?  What codecs are you using? hardware or software decoding?

No crashes here, reception was 100%, one or two times the audio sync got a bit out but I just flipped channels during the ads and it resolved itself.  PQ was stunning, you can notice the difference between upscaled SD and HD, Denny Crane's wrinkles, oh my!

Funny you should say that when HD first come out actors everywhere were complaining due to that very reason.

I'm usuing the latest monogram aac decoder which I think might be at the root of my sound & even instability issues, as it was rock solid before that. I'm using latest GBPVR with Power DVD Ultra h.264 codec, hardware accel via avivo on vista home prem with all updates, latest catalyst drivers etc on following hardware platform:

HX620 Modular PSU
Pioneer BDC-S02BK Blu-Ray drive
GE Cube HD3870 512 GDDR4 O/C edition
Intel E8200 1333 MHz 45nm 6MB CPU
PQI 2X1GB 800MHz DDR2
Gigabyte S-Series GA-G33M-DS2R mATX MB
500GB SataII Drive
Vista Home Premium
Hauppauge HVR1100 DVB-T
Microsoft Media Centre Remote & Keyboard

It might be that I have marginal reception (GBPVR sees it as 20% strength 100% quality on scan) but in every other respect the build is a rock solid unit. only issues I've had with crashing have happened since I installed the latest version of monogram, so I'm pointing the finger at that. Issues I'm having are sound sync issues, sometimes not noticable, sometimes bad. Recorded programs have bad sound sync. Now & again the picture starts to tear when channels are switched, esp on TVNZ6, seems to upset the apple cart & then there is a fair chance things will freeze.

I'm ok with all of this while I fine tune everything, its basically just the audio codec I need to sort out & I don't seem to be alone in that respect. I just have a bunch of shortland street watchers with zero tolerance for trial & error.

old3eyes: Pity that virtually no one can watch it in HD..

A good collection of people on this forum will be watching it ... me included.

That's because your watching it on a HTPC.  The great unwashed out there, me included don't have STBs to watch it and I for one won't be spending 2K plus  to make a HTPC..

Call it an early adopter's return then.  STB at $399 got to be tempting, although I'd probably wait until the Olympics, most likely the price will have dropped further.

Well, i watched it after getting MediaPortal back up and running after problems with the latest SVN's and boy was i pleased i got it done in time. The picture was amazing, and i'm not even running a full 1080 screen. It was better than anything i've ever seen on the TV barring some HD movies i have. Very impressed.

Plus the PC ran it smoothly without any troubles whatsoever.

Thanks TV3, you made my week.

I don't have a HD TV, so didn't get any benefit from the higher image resolution.  However, I did notice that the sound quality was worse than usual (especially at the start of the program, when the sound was weak and hollow).  This was through a MySky box.

Did anyone else notice this?

Home an away - wow the kids will love that one. I gotta say that HDTV is a great leap forward - it's been fun playing around with it over the past few months.
