 It was suggested to me that TV3 will be the next to withdraw from the Freeview service and like TVNZ, manage their own on-demand service.

 

 

I've got real money bet that TV3 will not only leave the Freeview on-demand, they will leave terrestrial broadcast freeview as well,   

 

- There is simply no way to justify having towers in major cities to broadcast from. (the regions have already only got a choice of Satellite or streaming- the urban centres will be next) 

 

It might push the networks to go HD on satellite, but I'm not holding out hope...

Agreed. WBD's linear audiences have tanked since they shut down their internal news operations, the advertising market is becoming more disbursed, and the fees they are paying to Kordia are a substantial cost to their business.

 

Their business model is moving towards becoming an online catalogue of cheap overseas content.
