Sounds like they've changed the audio for Sports Extra down to 64k too.

So I'm guessing it's time to ditch my DVB-S and get a DVB-T :( It's becoming impossible to watch at times, it's even at the point were my partner has started to notice and she doesnt usually notice these things at all.

No reply back from TVNZ about my complaint email.

No response back here either.. only good thing is that at least Tesltra seem to be unaffected. Does not help my media centre though

since when does TVNZ care about its veiwers anyway? This is the same corporation that puts Ads on after the Lost title comes up!

Freeview replied to me, just telling me to go complain to TVNZ. TVNZ did not reply.
Here is what freeview sent me.

Freeview Limited is a broadcast platform, and programming decisions are made by individual broadcasters. All enquiries about programming should be referred to the relevant broadcaster.

TVNZ is currently undertaking internal testing relating to the planned introduction of new services, and regrets the variation to your viewing experience that you have reported. This testing will continue for some time however whilst TVNZ determines the optimum set of configuration parameters relevant to its new mix of services.

By doing this, TVNZ are effectively forcing DVB-S users to move to My Sky HDi when TV1 and TV2 are avaliable in July to get decent quality.

Whats the bet in 6 months time TVNZ will be moaning about people moving to Sky again.

I had noticed that 3 was looking really bad - and thats on a 21" CRT hooked up by composite because the component is in use for something more important...

Anyway it was very very bad - 8mm blocks or so all over it. Analog is now better IMO.

Where we are, there is little or no terrestrial reception, so Freeview HD is off, and I am ideologically opposed to subscribing to Sky again just to watch TV1/2 in HDTV. And they have downgraded SDTV from a previously acceptable level to the current dire standard. I am composing a letter to the Minister of Broadcasting, but the prospect of National introducing regulation on PQ seems unlikely.

I wrote to TVNZ but got no reply.
They dont give a toss, and from an earlier reply about my concerns about not having Prime on Freeview their latest non-reply reaffirms this modus operandi.
It must be false advertising too that the Freeview platform is 'crystal-clear' when its now quite chunky.

Official reponse from TVNZ which came out with the latest Freeview Press Release today:

yes TVNZ Sport Extra is definitely at 64k and running at about 1mb/s (for promo loop)
