Connected my Magic TV to the internet for new firmware, downloaded 7% in 40 minutes, cancel. Try with iMac so far downloaded 2MB at 1KB/sec 3 hours to go.
Must be some goats on the Old Mountain Road chewing the wires.
What comes in the box eg cables and the like and and are you able to rewind live TV like Tivo eg I missed something that someone saidand want to rewind and check thencontinue with program?
the box comes with 2 sets of cables a composite and a component cable , no hdmi lead, remote, batteries, etc when watching live tv you can activate time slip by pressing the pause button, from then on the unit responds to commands as if you were watching a recorded programme, there is a button on the remote that is called " live " . this also kills the time slip buffer . you can also record the time slip if you wish . the magictv 3600td does not have a slow advance .
in the setup menu there is a setting for the amount of time slip from 1 hour to 12 hours . time slip only works on the currently viewed channel changing channel kills the time slip.
Of course you can Rewind live TV. Timeshfit buffer is by default enabled. In Setup you can change timeshift buffer from Always (default) to Manual (buffer when Pause), or Disable.

I've tried upgrade my firmware last night. Only took 30 second to download and another minute or so to install! It's great!
but i'm still having problem linking the program? I tried set the MagicTv to record The Simpsons (record series) but when i tried to record The Simpsons on Thursday evening (then i tried Friday evening), it only mark that particular episode for recording and ignores all the other episodes..
yellow15 setting the simpsons to record at 1700 hrs will series link for all the ocurences of the simpsons at 17:00 but will not pick up the same programm at 19:00 hrs on saturday which requires a seperate series link. do you know whether the episode on saturday is sequentially from the same series or another series . the sky misky box behaves the same way as well so dont loose any sleep over it . tivo appears to be the only pvr with intelligent epg recording at the moment .
When a show is marked to record as a "series", you don't need to record any separate episode. There is "series" code in the EPG system, and the Magic TV should automatically record all episodes of the whole show.
On the other hand, I think there is 2 "series" of "The Simpsons" cocurrently running, one series is for new episode and the other series for older episode. Besides, for each episode in either series, there is different "instant" episode, which is the same episode in a same series, and broadcast in different time (rerun/repeat). Different episode "instant" can even on different tv channel. I think for each "The Simpsons" episode, there is one instant on TV3 and another instant on TV8.
When marking recording in EPG, make sure to mark it as a "series" (S), or as a "single" (R) recording.
I didn't record separate episode. I only record the Thursday 5pm The Simpsons and I've record it as a "series"
i then check the EPG. The Thursday 5pm simpsons has the (S) mark next to it, but then i check the Friday 5pm, Sat 7pm, Sun 7pm, NONE of them has the (S) next to it.
I can understand if it can't pick up the Weekend ones as they are on a different time. But unfortunately it cannot pick up the Friday 5pm one as well
Maybe someone with the MagicTV can give it a try and see if you got the same problem?
Most of my other series recording seems to be working fine
