joshhill96: @ ADKM   S8200 Manual now on website here is the direct link: http://www.dishtv.co.nz/images/stories/User_Manuals/s8200_userguide_nzl_version2_web.pdf

Thanks Josh, just downloaded it ... and quite opportune as the unit just arrived today  (well yesterday, but Courier never advised so it sat on the porch overnight!).

Intend to read before turning on...  but one question if I connect 2 dishes, the "Loop out" sockets go nowhere/do nothing ?

Does this unit have the on-demand apps like the T2100? Or any other IPTV functionality?

Edit - More questions...

DiSEQ support? yes/no?
MPEG support? 2 and 4?

I have read the manual, but it seems this real technical nerdy stuff (my kind of stuff) is missing from the last page :)

joshhill96:
Bananabob: Why is Choice TV on demand missing from the list? I presume Prime is missing because it is owned by Sky.

I assume Choice TV has decided not to create a HBBTV application from launch, it's best to contact them and request an application so they can be reached alongside the FreeviewPlus and the Satbox platform.

I assume you are talking about ondemand here. I see no mention in the manual, or the specifications for this unit that it does OnDemand streaming.

Does it?

We have removed this feature until we can get it approved, once we get approval we can then mention in any guides.

They are pending approval, if it gets given the green light then Yes. No to IPTV at the moment.

DiSEQ support? yes/no?
MPEG support? 2 and 4?

Yes and Yes to both, please see my previous post regarding having this in manual.

First impressions - picture is very good, OSD and menus are nice.  Pretty instinctive all round.
Initial boot/setup and an upgrade went seamlessly.  I did have to ring to find out how to re-enter the wifi password (but that was my fault!)

Wife has already scheduled some recordings and I'm looking forward to setting up a couple, of dishes to see what's around. Hope to get Isat 19 but dish is only 1.8m

Particularly impressed with what the user guide seems to suggest is file in/out copy to Hard drive but haven't tested it yet.
One minor  thing we would have liked is a more positive indicator that it is recording.

All in all, pretty happy so far  :)

I am also interested in that info, but the images in the PDF doc are of such low quality, but  even after zooming, many of the menus with that type of info were unreadable.
I'm interested in what chipset and CPU its using.

I have to question the recording functions.. why is it that it can only record 2 channels while watching a 3rd. My Ultraplus receiver is 3 years old now and it can handle recording 3 channels  per mux per tuner.

Any ETA on the approval time?

The PDF has been compressed for online storage, please use the built-in iManual via the menu for detailed and clear images. We have decided to not focus on the PDF Manuals because of our new development with iManuals which can be updated overnight via new software updates

Cant say yet, once it has I will let you know and we will update our marketing collateral including iManual and PDF Manuals, we had to pull it out shortly after announcing it

First test run in earnest today with 3 news.  Couple of times we mucked up.  After fast forwarding and stopping (because we overshot or did something stupid) we went to play and there was no resume (tried both OK and PLAY).  We had to use the 10 min skip to get back. (Don't suppose this interval can be adjusted?)

What was weird though , every time we tested this, resume worked 100%. Only in the real thing did it not.  Could we have done  something wrong to cause it?  (Easy when still learning!)

Then after one f/forward the on screen display (top and bottom) would not go away, as it usually does. Is there a keypress  to remove that?

In the Library screen (or is it Schedule? where it shows status "Recording" or "Watched" is there another indication that something is "Partly watched " ?

Thanks.  :)

Sorry, another question.    Copying to the internal HD - what is the expected format ?
I think it may be mp4 (did I read that somewhere?)  But isn't mp4 just a container and you'd seen specific specs?
