Just to clarify, this is effectively a freeview replacement for the mysky box (aside from the lack of sky channels and the addition of TVNZ ondelmand etc) and I won't need a UHF receiver on the roof?

I have an S7090PVR. I was involved with Dish in resolving many subtitle issues. Does the S8200 do subtitles, because it is not mentioned on the Data sheet?

Bobp: I have an S7090PVR. I was involved with Dish in resolving many subtitle issues. Does the S8200 do subtitles, because it is not mentioned on the Data sheet?

Yes Subtitles (Closed Captions) and Audio Descriptions are available through a push of a button, we have updated the release to include this.

Why is Choice TV on demand missing from the list? I presume Prime is missing because it is owned by Sky.

I assume Choice TV has decided not to create a HBBTV application from launch, it's best to contact them and request an application so they can be reached alongside the FreeviewPlus and the Satbox platform.

Prime OnDemand is fairly complex as its offered to all FTA viewers via the SKY GO platform which is currently being developed for the MySky OnDemand Upgrade, You can still catch up for free on their platform via web.

How reliable are it's recordings? Will it miss the start, end, stop halfway through or try again on the +1 channels sometimes (as Panasonic and Freeview/EPG where less than a 'perfect' signal)?

If you set a manual time to record, will it do it regardless of signal quality? I ask because we've had years of frustration with a Panasonic recorder that suffers from all of the above.

The S8200 should have no problems with recordings, we have tested this unit day in and out and are happy with it. You can adjust the recording duration. Unlike the Panasonic recorders the satBox S8200 works with a Satellite Dish, not a UHF aerial

Will have to get back to you on that, however from what I have seen the recording stops and tries to find a repeat screening/Plus 1 version however I will need to double check for you.

No restrictions, you can receive other channels and satellites without any issues.

I have noticed a big difference from other receivers upscaling content, We have created a way to minimise the grain and pixilation from the SD feeds and refined it. Its very hard to explain however I will try and get side by side comparison pictures for you if you wish? But even for me who is fussy for HD content, the upscalling feature in this particular unit will not disappoint for the SD Freeview channels.

But a quick call around the shops you listed (in Dunedin) and no-one has any stock.

Just heard back from Choice TV

Thanks for getting in touch with your question. Plans are being made to develop our On Demand platform, and it should be HBBTV developed by the end of the year.
